Polar Opposites Puzzle
The Polar Opposites puzzle is encountered during the Polar Opposites main quest, which is the 11th mission in Crimson Desert. After stepping through the Abyss Gate in Hernand Castle, Kliff finds himself in a floating realm filled with Abyss energy. This puzzle serves as the introduction to Axiom Force, a telekinetic tether ability that lets you grab, pull, push, and rotate specific objects. Mastering this ability is essential for the many Abyss puzzles that follow throughout the rest of the game.
Prerequisites
Complete the quest Traces of the Abyss and enter the Abyss Gate in Hernand Castle.
No special items or gear are required for this puzzle.
Walkthrough
Step 1: Activate the Abyss Nexus
After arriving in the floating Abyss realm, walk forward along the path. You will see a glowing platform on the ground ahead of you. Stand on it for a few seconds to activate the Abyss Nexus, which registers as a fast travel point. This is important because it lets you return here later without having to re-enter through the gate.
Step 2: Head Toward the Axiom Archive
Follow the cobbled path beyond the Abyss Nexus toward the large structure ahead, which is the Axiom Archive. As you approach, a cutscene plays in which Kliff walks away with a new ability: Axiom Force. This telekinetic tether lets you grab, pull, push, and rotate objects marked with Abyss energy.
Step 3: Solve the Stone Dial Puzzle
After the cutscene, head to the right-hand side of the sealed door. You will find a pair of stone dials embedded in the floor. These dials act as connectors in an energy circuit. The engraved lines on each dial must be rotated so they align with the incoming and outgoing energy pipes on either side.
To solve the puzzle:
Target the first stone dial with Axiom Force by holding the ability button and aiming at it.
Use the directional input (D-pad or analog stick) to rotate the dial. Watch the engraved grooves on the dial's surface.
Rotate the dial until the engraved lines connect with the energy pipes on both sides. When aligned correctly, a glowing energy stream begins flowing through the connection.
Repeat the same process with the second stone dial next to it.
Once both dials are aligned and energy flows through the entire circuit, the sealed door opens.
Step 4: Enter the Axiom Archive
Walk through the now-open doors and proceed down the hallway. At the end, you will meet Alustin in a cutscene. The Polar Opposites quest ends here, and the next main quest, Abyss Without Balance, begins immediately.
Key Tips
Watch for the glow. When a dial is aligned correctly, a visible energy stream flows through the connected pipes. If no stream appears, the dial is not in the right position yet.
Listen for audio feedback. A distinct chime or hum plays when each dial locks into the correct rotation.
Practice Axiom Force here. This is the first puzzle that uses Axiom Force. Take your time to get comfortable with the grab and rotate controls, because every Abyss puzzle from this point forward relies on this ability.
