Add Tree of Slumber puzzle details from video guide

Flame Strike is an elemental skill in Crimson Desert, available to Kliff. It belongs to the Health (Red) branch of the skill tree. When activated, Kliff wraps his weapon in fire and delivers a powerful forward strike that deals fire damage to all enemies in front of him. Flame Strike is the first fire-elemental ability Kliff can access, and it opens the door to the broader Imbue Element system.
As an elemental skill, Flame Strike consumes Spirit rather than Stamina. This makes it a valuable offensive option when Stamina is depleted from physical combos, allowing Kliff to maintain pressure by switching to elemental attacks. The fire damage component is particularly effective against enemies weak to flame, and the burning status effect deals additional damage over time after the initial hit.

How to Unlock | Unlock Flame Lv. 1 by solving the puzzle at the Tree of Slumber in the Abyss |
Prerequisites | Flame Lv. 1 |
Flame Strike becomes available after unlocking Flame Lv. 1, which requires completing the puzzle at the Tree of Slumber in the Abyss. There are two routes to reach the Tree of Slumber:
Route 1: Ascend the Spire of Ringing Truth in Pailune, then extend sky bridges through Ether Rest, Frostbitten Paradise, Path of Trials, Sanctorum of Darkness, and Loop of Life to reach the Tree of Slumber.
Route 2: Solve the puzzle at Root's End Ruin to reach the Abyss via the Twisted Thicketway, then extend the sky bridge to Skyloop Bridge and onward to the Tree of Slumber.
Once the Tree of Slumber puzzle is solved, Flame Lv. 1 is permanently unlocked for all three characters. Kliff receives Flame Strike, while Damiane and Oongka unlock their own flame-elemental variants (Flame Rush and Flame Quake, respectively).
The Tree of Slumber is the sixth and final Abyss island in the chain. The puzzle takes place in an arena surrounded by lava that causes instant death on contact. A central object sits in the middle with four pillars around it. Stabbing the central object and rotating it raises and lowers the surrounding pillars.
The solution requires exactly three rotations in specific positions. Each pillar must reach a height where a blue glow appears (roughly two-thirds down). When all four pillars glow blue, the lava drains and the activation button appears. Use the Axiom grapple to activate the button from a safe distance rather than walking through the area where lava was. See the Tree of Slumber Puzzle Solution article for the exact step-by-step sequence.

Flame Strike fits naturally into mixed Stamina/Spirit combat sequences. After exhausting your Stamina on physical combos like Forward Slash and Spinning Slash, switch to Flame Strike to keep dealing damage while Stamina regenerates. The fire damage and burning effect stack well with Bleed from Stab, allowing multiple damage-over-time effects to work simultaneously.
Once Imbue Element is unlocked (requires Flame Strike Lv. 1), you can apply fire properties to other skills like Turning Slash, Force Palm, and Charged Shot. This turns your entire kit into a fire-damage build that exploits flame-weak enemies throughout the game.
Flame Strike forms the foundation of one of the most powerful early-to-mid game builds in Crimson Desert. When combined with Darkbringer and Imbue Element, Flame Strike enables an AoE destruction build that trivializes many encounters through the mid-game and remains competitive into endgame content.
The combo works as follows: Flame Strike unlocks the fire element, which is a prerequisite for Imbue Element. Once Imbue Element is available, you can apply fire properties to other skills, most notably Turning Slash. A fire-imbued Turning Slash from Darkbringer delivers massive AoE fire damage that stacks with the weapon's already high base attack and critical rate.
The community-named "Volcano Mage" build takes this synergy further by adding the Volcanic Eruption Abyss Gear to the mix. Volcanic Eruption causes any attack imbued with flame to trigger explosive eruptions at the cost of Spirit. When paired with a fire-imbued Turning Slash, the explosion damage stacks on top of the base slash damage, the fire damage, and Darkbringer's Ator's Orb tracking projectiles. Adding Crow's Pursuit (from defeating the Crowcaller boss in Chapter 5) creates double auto-tracking projectiles on every Forward Slash, layering even more damage.
The Volcanic Eruption Abyss Gear is found inside the Scorch Flame Gloves, which are located in a waterfall cave near the Tea of Rivers, east of Hernand. Extract the Volcanic Eruption gear from the gloves at any Witch NPC and install it into your preferred armor piece.
Several factors make this combination exceptionally effective:
Flame Strike costs only 10 Spirit, making it affordable to use repeatedly as both a standalone attack and a gateway to Imbue Element.
Imbue Element converts all of your physical attacks to fire damage, which triggers Volcanic Eruption on every imbued hit. This turns your entire combo chain into an AoE fire damage machine.
Darkbringer's Crit Rate Lv. 3 means your fire-imbued attacks land critical hits frequently, multiplying the already boosted damage.
Spirit Siphon (a standard Abyss Gear) regenerates Spirit as you deal damage, offsetting the Spirit cost of Volcanic Eruption procs and allowing near-infinite Imbue Element uptime.
The Leather Helm of the Fallen Kingdom provides a 35% Turning Slash damage bonus, further amplifying the signature attack of this build.
This build is widely considered one of the most overpowered early-game combinations in Crimson Desert, capable of one-shotting many mid-game enemies and dealing massive burst damage to bosses. The only prerequisite beyond Flame Strike itself is reaching the Tree of Slumber in the Abyss and picking up Darkbringer from the Silverwolf Mountains, both of which can be done relatively early in the game.
Flame Strike costs only 10 Spirit, making it very affordable. Use it freely as a Stamina-saving alternative during prolonged fights.
The burning status effect deals damage over time after the initial hit. This passive damage is particularly effective against bosses with large health pools.
Flame Strike is the prerequisite for unlocking Imbue Element, which is one of the most important combat upgrades in the game. Prioritize unlocking Flame Lv. 1 early.
Fire damage is effective against enemies weak to flame, including ice-based creatures and many wildlife enemies found in forested areas.
Spirit regenerates while in Focus mode, so pair Flame Strike with Focus for sustained elemental offense during difficult encounters.
Flame Strike can also be used outside combat to burn thorny red vines that block pathways, similar to the Blinding Flash light-beam method.
For the Volcano Mage build, prioritize unlocking Flame Strike early and pick up the Volcanic Eruption Abyss Gear from the waterfall cave near the Tea of Rivers east of Hernand.
Flame Strike + Imbue Element + Darkbringer is one of the strongest early combos in the game. Even without Volcanic Eruption, fire-imbued Turning Slash with Darkbringer's crit rate delivers devastating burst damage.
