Overview

The Bolton Plate Armor is a Body Armor piece in Crimson Desert. It falls under the Plate armor category and is equipped on the upper torso of the player character. With a base Defense of 8, it offers solid mid-tier protection and is notable for being one of the first plate armor pieces players can purchase through the Hernand Contribution Shop.

Body armor provides the highest defense stat among the four Armor types (chest armor, Headgear, Gloves, and Footwear). The Bolton Plate Armor represents a meaningful upgrade over the starting Canta Plate Armor and is available relatively early in the game for players who invest in Hernand faction reputation.

How to Obtain

Hernand Contribution Shop

The primary way to acquire the Bolton Plate Armor is through the Hernand Contribution Shop, located inside Hernand Castle in the City of Hernand. The armor costs 7 Contribution Points.

Contribution Points are earned by completing faction quests for the Hernand faction. You can also take on bounties from the bounty board to accumulate points more quickly. The Contribution Shop becomes accessible after completing a few early story missions in the Hernand region.

The Contribution Shop manager is found near the main castle entrance. Speak to them and navigate to the armor section to find the Bolton Plate Armor.

Alternative Acquisition

Some armor pieces can also be crafted at a Blacksmith if the corresponding recipe has been acquired. Check with local Blacksmiths to see if a crafting manual is available for this armor.

Armor sets in Crimson Desert share a visual theme across equipment slots but do not currently provide set bonuses when multiple pieces are worn together. The primary benefit of wearing a matching set is cosmetic, giving the character the appearance of a Hernand City elite soldier. Individual pieces within a set still need to be refined separately to improve their stats.

Its 3 Abyss Core slots are a significant advantage, since many higher-DEF plate armors lack Abyss Core compatibility altogether.

Refinement

The Bolton Plate Armor supports 10 refinement levels. Refinement is performed at a Blacksmith and increases the armor's Defense with each level. Because this armor is non-unique, it is refined using gathered materials or duplicate armor pieces.

Abyss Cores

With 3 Abyss Core slots, the Bolton Plate Armor accepts Abyss Cores that can be socketed by visiting a Witch. The first available Witch is Elowen at the Witch's House in The Witchwoods, unlocked after the Chapter 5 quest "Witch of Wisdom". Recommended core setups include:

• Pure defense: Stack flat Defense cores to maximize the armor's protective value. This is the simplest and most effective setup for general gameplay.

• Health sustain: Slot Health regeneration cores for extended exploration sessions without relying on consumables.

• Utility: Use cores that provide quality-of-life bonuses like increased carry capacity or reduced fall damage.

Notes and Tips

• The Bolton Plate Armor is purchasable through the Contribution Shop, meaning players need to accumulate Hernand faction Contribution Points before it becomes available. Focus on faction quests and bounties to earn points quickly.

• It pairs well with the Bolton Plate Helm and Bolton Plate Cloak for a full heavy armor look that matches the armor worn by Hernand's elite soldiers.

• At 8 DEF with 3 Abyss Core slots, the Bolton Plate Armor is one of the best value-for-effort armor pieces in the early game. The Abyss Core slots give it long-term viability even as you acquire higher-DEF options.

• Consider keeping the Bolton Plate Armor even after upgrading to a higher-DEF piece. The 3 Abyss Core slots make it useful for specialized builds where the socketed cores provide more value than raw defense.
