The Abyss Item is a key item in Crimson Desert. It is an abyssal relic that emanates mysterious power, reportedly holding secrets of a long-lost civilization. Like other Abyss-related objects, this relic is connected to the supernatural force that has scattered fragments across the continent of Pywel. The Abyss is described as pure power, raw and untamed, and those with ill intentions seek these relics for their own gain.

"[Abyssal Relic] A relic emanating a mysterious power from the abyss. It is said to hold the secrets of a long-lost civilization."
The exact method of obtaining the Abyss Item has not yet been fully documented. Key items in Crimson Desert can typically be obtained from NPCs, quest rewards, or by defeating enemies and bosses. Given its connection to the Abyss, it may be found in Abyss-related locations or rewarded during story quests involving Abyss exploration.
The Abyss is a mysterious realm that features heavily in Crimson Desert's storyline. Players first encounter the Abyss during Chapter 1 when Kliff uses the Engraved Key to enter a portal inside Hernand Castle. Throughout the game, Abyss-related items and artifacts play a central role in character progression, with Abyss Artifacts used to increase attributes, unlock abilities, and upgrade equipment.
The Abyss Item cannot be sold or discarded.
It is categorized separately from Abyss Artifacts, which are used directly for skill and equipment enhancement.
Compatible items can be stored in the Kuku Iron Pot for safekeeping.
Abyss Items (also referred to as Abyss Artifacts) can be obtained through multiple methods:
Main quests: Certain chapters reward Abyss Items upon completion, including Chapter 2: Golden Greed and Chapter 4: Gate to the Otherworld.
Boss drops: Major bosses drop Abyss Items when defeated.
Exploration: Found in notable locations such as the Spire of the Stars, the cabin where the Greymanes were ambushed, Marni's countryside house, and the hut where the fake form of Elowen is imprisoned.
Abyss puzzles: Each island in The Abyss contains a puzzle. Solving it activates the spire or totem and spawns an Abyss Item.
Side quests: The Greymanes' Grounds of the Sunrise quest chain, including missions about checking rumors of Greymane survivors, yields several Abyss Items.
Vendors: Some merchants sell Abyss Items directly.
Abyss Items are used for increasing Kliff's attributes, unlocking new abilities through the Abyss Tree, and upgrading equipment to higher tiers. They are essential for character progression, especially in the later chapters where enemy difficulty spikes.
Abyss Items cannot be sold or discarded.
There are three tiers: regular Abyss Artifacts, Faded Abyss Artifacts, and Sealed Abyss Artifacts.
Collecting all Abyss Items is required for full character build optimization.
