Every zone in the game tracks the same set of discovery categories, and the map records them as they are found. Some feed a system directly, some are pure completion, and several carry their own achievement. Sweeping a zone before the walking vessel departs is the practical reason to care about any of them, since areas are best treated as one-visit.

Finding Them
Koo does most of the work. He picks up the scent of nearby points of interest during exploration and marks them on the map, which turns a blind sweep into a directed one. Keeper Golems supplement that on arrival in a new zone: they will mark a category of find or point out a dangerous foe, though each one answers a single question before it stops responding.
Strongboxes need a little more. Some open on a directional input shown on their panel, and others need a numeric code that drops from a specific elite enemy in the same zone, so the container and the fight that unlocks it are usually placed near each other.
Completion
The rarest achievements on the list are collection ones rather than combat ones. Happy Camper for every campsite, Blade Collector for every blade, and Gourmand for every cooking and crop book all sit in low single-digit unlock rates, which puts them well below even the final boss achievement. Most completion runs finish them during a second cycle, when the map is already known and gear is no longer the limiter.
