Side quests are optional missions offered by NPCs across the Alabaster Dawn launch build. They sit outside the main chapter progression and reward gems, Essences, Ingredients, cooked dishes, key items, and occasional Divine Weapons tool-use moments. Most launch-build side quests are clustered in and around Lyhamn, the second settlement Juno reaches after the prologue, with a smaller set scattered around Koro Valley. A pair of side stories also runs in the Aurum Plains.
How Side Quests Work
Side quests are picked up by talking to NPCs; quest objectives appear in the journal alongside the main story tasks.
Markers and hint intensity are adjustable in the options menu, matching the main-story setting.
Side quests can be completed at any pace; none of the launch-build side quests time out or expire.
Completing side quests contributes to the visible settlement rebuilding loop, with structures and decorations appearing in Lyhamn as quests close out.
Chronicle Subquests Around Lyhamn
Four quests tied to Lyhamn's rebuild are not free-standing side quests: they are subquests of Unyielding Solidarity, the second main-plot story of Chapter 1 in the Chronicle. They appear in the Journal alongside optional content, which makes them easy to mistake for NPC side quests.

Ronan's Inn: starts automatically during the Rebuild from Ruins story, following the innkeeper Ronan Estquin.
Dream Within a Dream: starts automatically during Rebuild from Ruins and opens Somu's Dream, the Roguelite Mode, near the end of Chapter 2.

Notable Side Quests
Iron Deficiency leads to the Ruff Edge Blueprint through the Wellspring exchange, an early melee gem upgrade.
For The Children, Right? leads to the Dirty Quill Blueprint, a strong ranged gem, through the same exchange.
Dream Within a Dream unlocks Somu's Dream, the roguelite side mode, and is easy to pick up automatically while rebuilding Sundalan.
Tips
Clear Lyhamn side quests before pushing into Koro Valley's harder content. Several rewards directly unlock easier crafting paths for Gem Crafting and cooking.
Talk to every villager in Lyhamn after returning from each Trial. New side quests unlock as story progress changes the village's situation.
Some quests require specific Divine weapons or Aspects. If a quest stalls, returning after acquiring the next Divine weapon often opens a previously-blocked interaction.
