Verteron is the Elyos home territory, the region on the Elysea side of the Bulwark where Elyos characters begin. It is the Elyos counterpart to Altgard, and on the Korean and Taiwanese service it is the region a character has to finish before the world opens further: completing Verteron's hero quest line spawns a spatial transfer portal that leads to the newer territory of Eltnen.
The portal is not just a quest reward. It checks level, item level and combat power before it lets you through, so Verteron is a gate as well as a starting zone.
Named Locations
Location | What it is |
|---|---|
Dawn Legion Base | A hidden stronghold deep inside Cantas Valley that serves as the Dawn Legion's command centre. |
Cantas Valley | Once a vital Odylium supply hub for the Daeva. The land was abandoned when its resources ran out, and the Dawn Legion now gathers what little remains. |
Ellun River Marsh | High ground along the lower Ellun River, once the site of Verteron's Barrier Tower until the Ishtar Legion destroyed it from the air. The Illusion Cavaliers hold it now and are trying to rebuild the tower. |
Altamia Canyon | A canyon in eastern Verteron, once home to the Zumion Temple. It was submerged after the Battle of Meslamtaeda and has since re-emerged, and the Notos Legion watches it. |
Aullaeu Village | An Aullaeu settlement on the edge of Tolbas Forest, home to servants of the Balaur and tied to whatever is wrong with the forest. |
Tolbas Forest itself borders the region and holds the sanctuary of Urugugu Canyon, one of the Expedition dungeons.
World Content
Verteron carries the standard field layer that the newer regions also use: Sealed Dungeons, Strongholds and Monoliths, plus field bosses and the map's travel network. The Korean and Taiwanese build added a Daeva Express system that completes a region's Sealed Dungeon, Stronghold and Empyrean Trace objectives in one pass, and it covers Verteron.
Areas and Field Bosses
Verteron is divided into named areas, and most of them hold at least one field boss. The area descriptions below summarise the game's own location text; of the area names, only Tolbas Forest and Altamia Highland have appeared in an NCsoft global service notice so far, so treat the others as provisional.
Area | What is there | |
|---|---|---|
Cantas Valley | The valley around the Dawn Legion Base. Giant mushrooms taller than the trees grow in its caves, and poachers use its cliff caves as hideouts. | Kernon of the West, Neikel of the East |
Ellun River Marsh | High ground on the lower Ellun River where the Barrier Tower stood. The Balaur watch the marsh from a captured observation post. | Rotten Kutar |
Ellun River Midstream | Hidden caves where the rare Spirit Flower grows, now stripped by illegal harvesters, and the haunt of the Akilo Thieves. | Blooming Korin |
Verteron Fortress Ruins | The fallen Verteron Fortress. Krall live in its basement and hold its jail, and Klaw from the Abyss settled here after the fortress's Abyss Gate was destroyed. | Bodyguard Teegant, Kusan the Mad Gladiator, Ritualist Garshim |
Tolbas Forest | Home of the Biruta, gentle creatures whose leaves the Shugo prize, and of the Aullaeu settlement on its edge. | Bloodfang Pnyn, Furious Saursus |
Aullaeu Village | The Aullaeu worshipped Dragon Lord Tiamat for generations and still build altars to her; a fanatical band devoted to Ishtar gathers in the village oratory. | Scholar Aulla, Chaser Taulo, Forest Warrior Aullamu |
Altamia Highland and Altamia Canyon | Eastern Verteron. The Zumion Temple once stood in Altamia Canyon (see Named Locations), and a Balaur scout outpost now holds canyon residents prisoner. | Heretic Layla, Centurion Demiros, Divine Ansas, Black Tentacle Lawa (canyon), Silent Dartan (south), Soul Ruler Kashapa (east) |
Drana Plantation | A Balaur Drana farm guarded by Dratona troops and Draconute scouts. | Harvest Manager Moshav, Sentinel K'nash |
Nahid Brigade Fortress | Where the Daeva lost a battle in total defeat, and where the Balaur now run Surana experiments on captured Daeva. | Researcher Setram |
Garden of the Illusion God | A pilgrimage ground for worshippers of the Illusion God, abandoned by most pilgrims after the High Priestess of Illusion disappeared. | Phantasm Kasia |
Scarlet Forest | Reached late in the Elyos story; its observation site is where the Notos Legion quests of that episode begin. | High Commander Lagta |
Eternal Isle | An island with its own distinct ecology. | Eternal Gartua |
Villages and Travel
The official guidebook lists three main villages in Verteron. Dawn Legion Base is the Dawn Legion's secret base hidden deep in the cliffs of Cantas Valley, used as a refuge from the Balaur. The Wind Breeze Merchants HQ is the Shugo merchants' headquarters. Zumion Village grew up around the Notos Legion among people fleeing the Balaur, in the Altamia Canyon area where Meslamtaeda once fought Zumion, the first Daeva; a change in the canyon's terrain recently raised the sunken Zumion Temple and its ruins, and its closeness to Eldes Temple (엘데스 신전; provisional English), Kaisinel's temple, had kept it under a protective barrier set by the High Priest. Korean seasonal events in July and September 2026 placed their merchants in Dawn Legion Base and Zumion Village. See Villages and Settlements.
Kibelisks are the territory's teleport points. The game lists 61 Kibelisk activations in Verteron, from Dawn Legion Base and the Cantas Valley Outpost out to the observatories of the Garden of the Illusion God, and an achievement for activating every one. See Travel and Teleportation.
Strongholds, Sealed Dungeons and the Monolith
Verteron has 15 Strongholds, grouped into three sets for Spacetime Rift: Domination (five each at launch, four each since September 9, 2026), and a large number of Sealed Dungeons; the full Stronghold list is on Strongholds and Sealed Dungeons. The Verteron Monolith is levelled with Empyrean Trace: Verteron; see Monoliths and Empyrean Traces.
Story in Verteron
The Elyos Hero Quests run through Verteron from level 10, starting with the episode Dreaming of Paradise at the Dawn Legion Base and ending with Encountering Kaisinel's Core at level 45. On the global service, Hero Quests in Northern Tolbas Forest, Eastern Tolbas Forest and Altamia Highland were among those fixed in the first maintenance after Advance Access opened on September 30, 2026.
Verteron in PvP
Verteron is not a peaceful zone once you reach the cap. On the Korean and Taiwanese build it is one of the two territories that host Spacetime Rift: Domination, a large-scale attack-and-defence mode in which each faction takes turns defending.
Element | Detail on the Korean and Taiwanese build |
|---|---|
Schedule | Monday, Thursday and Saturday, at 20:00 and 23:00 |
Rotation | Attack and defence swap weekly. In week one Verteron is defended by the Elyos; in week two Altgard is defended by the Asmodian. |
Entry | Level 50, item level 4,500 and combat power 500k, plus the stronghold-clearing achievements for both Verteron and Altgard |
Size | Between 60 and 200 players per side |
Objective | Strongholds form groups, one group opens at random, and each stronghold falls when all three of its Monoliths are destroyed. Groups held five strongholds at launch, with three of five needed to win; since the September 9, 2026 update each group holds four, and the attackers win by taking three of the four. |
That mode is live on the Korean and Taiwanese build and has not been announced for the global build. See PvP and the Abyss.
Spacetime Rift: Domination is NCsoft's English name for the mode, which it announced as part of Chapter 1 in June 2026. The mode went live on the Korean build with the September 2, 2026 update. Earlier community translations used other names for it.
Field Activities
Activity | In Verteron |
|---|---|
Breaks out at random in the Elyos territories at half past every hour on the Korean service; the event plays in its own map since July 1, 2026 | |
Verteron's directive merchants sell Duty Scrolls. Since October 7, 2026 Verteron duties pay the same rewards as Eltnen duties on the Korean service | |
Hidden in the field, including key-only cubes since December 2025 | |
Empyrean Traces | Collected for the Verteron Monolith; player route maps count 560 in each faction's home field |
On the Global Service
Verteron is live on the global service. NCsoft's first maintenance after Advance Access opened, on September 30, 2026, addressed a bottleneck with quest objects in the Elyos Hero Quests of Northern Tolbas Forest, Eastern Tolbas Forest and Altamia Highland, and the October 4 to 5, 2026 maintenance added a Quest Tracker button that teleports characters still in the Poeta Hero Quests to Verteron. Field boss timers and Spacetime Rift: Domination have not been announced for the global service as of October 7, 2026.
The October 7, 2026 global update increased Raw Leather drops from monsters in Verteron, along with Altgard and Chaotic Lower Reshanta. No numerical drop rate was announced.
Scope Note
Verteron is also the name of a region in the original AION. The locations listed above are AION 2's own, taken from AION 2 material, and the two games' maps are not a one-to-one carry-over. Do not assume a place from the first game exists here.

Exploration maps and pet routes
Verteron Global Exploration Route maps all 15 Stronghold reference positions and gives three bounded search segments around Kibelisks, combining Empyrean Traces, possible Hidden Cube spots and Cogni or Natura pet monsters. The maps show coordinate relationships; the suggested search order still needs to be adapted to terrain.
