Altgard is the Asmodian home territory, the region on the Asmodae side of the Bulwark where Asmodian characters begin. It is the mirror of Verteron in structure and the darker of the two in tone: a Balaur warship came down in the north of it and the ground has not recovered.
On the Korean and Taiwanese service, completing Altgard's hero quest line spawns a spatial transfer portal to Morheim, gated on level, item level and combat power.

Named Locations
Location | What it is |
|---|---|
Safe Haven | A human settlement in northern Altgard that used to be where criminals and fugitives washed up. After the Dredgion came down it became, unexpectedly, the area spared from Balaur attacks. |
Dredgion Crash Site | The canyon where the Fafnir Legion's Dredgion hit. The impact scorched the land and the leaking Drakana corrupted the soil, leaving a hazardous zone cut off from everything around it. |
Sanctum Outpost | Once an Archon sanctuary built around Zikel's Sanctum. It fell in the fighting against Fafnir and is now a Balaur stronghold, where Draconute Warriors capture Daevas and turn them into Fafnites. |
Moslan Forest | A forest between northern Altgard and the Basfelt Ruins, once a sanctuary for the Elim and the Nornir. The High Priest Hystan burned it, and only wounded Elim remain. |
Nornir Assembly | A settlement built by Nornir refugees from Moslan Forest, shielded by their own magic and led by Urd of the Three Sisters of Fate. |
World Content
Altgard runs the same field layer as the other territories: Sealed Dungeons, Strongholds and Monoliths, field bosses and the travel network, all covered by the Daeva Express batch-completion system on the Korean and Taiwanese build.
Areas and Field Bosses
The area descriptions below summarise the game's own location text. Four areas have no English name in any NCsoft announcement or in the game data seen so far and are given in Korean; of the English area names, only Basfelt Ruins, Purifying Forest, Fafnite Deposit and Impetusium Square have appeared in an NCsoft global service notice so far, so treat the others as provisional.

Villages and Travel
The official guidebook lists four main villages in Altgard. Safe Haven (도망자 마을, literally the fugitives' village) was once home to herbalists and woodcutters, lay abandoned through the war, and now hides people chased by the Balaur or wanted for crimes. Quai Campsite is the base of the Shugo Quai trading company (콰이링 무역단), which carries goods for Nemon, the supplier of Ode across Altgard, and trades outside goods to Safe Haven. The Nornir Assembly is the home of Urd, who leads the forest Nornir; it became their base as Nornir fleeing the Blades' attacks across Moslan Forest gathered there. The Steel Hammer Merchants HQ was Altgard's logistics hub, a port for airships from the Abyss and all of Asmodae, until the long war between the Balaur and the Daeva wrecked its buildings and left only the remains of its airships. Korean seasonal events placed their merchants in Safe Haven and the Nornir Assembly. See Villages and Settlements.
The game lists 61 Kibelisk activations in Altgard, from Safe Haven to the Impetusium cliffs, and an achievement for activating every one. See Travel and Teleportation.
Strongholds, Sealed Dungeons and the Monolith
Altgard has 15 Strongholds in three Domination groups (five each at launch, four each since September 9, 2026) and a large number of Sealed Dungeons; the full Stronghold list is on Strongholds and Sealed Dungeons. The Altgard Monolith is levelled with Empyrean Trace: Altgard; see Monoliths and Empyrean Traces.
Story in Altgard
The Asmodian Hero Quests run through Altgard from level 10, from the episode Stranger in a Strange Land at Shadow Hall and Safe Haven to Encountering Zikel's Core at level 45. On the global service, Hero Quests in Basfelt Ruins, Purifying Forest, Fafnite Deposit and Impetusium Square were among those fixed in the first maintenance after Advance Access opened on September 30, 2026.
Altgard in PvP
Altgard is the Asmodian half of the Spacetime Rift: Domination rotation on the Korean and Taiwanese build, defended by the Asmodian on the weeks when Verteron is not being defended by the Elyos. The entry requirements, the stronghold group layout (four strongholds per group since September 9, 2026) and the three-Monolith capture rule are the same on both sides; the full table is on Verteron.
Field Activities

Altgard's directive merchants sell Duty Scrolls. Several Altgard duties had their target monsters corrected on March 18 and April 8, 2026, and since October 7, 2026 Altgard duties pay the same rewards as Morheim duties on the Korean service | |

Empyrean Traces | Collected for the Altgard Monolith; player route maps count 560 in each faction's home field |
On the Global Service
Altgard is live on the global service. NCsoft's first maintenance after Advance Access opened, on September 30, 2026, addressed a bottleneck with quest objects in the Asmodian Hero Quests of Basfelt Ruins, Purifying Forest, Fafnite Deposit and Impetusium Square, and the October 4 to 5, 2026 maintenance added a Quest Tracker button that teleports characters still in the Ishalgen Hero Quests to Altgard.
The October 7, 2026 global update increased Raw Leather drops from monsters in Altgard, along with Verteron and Chaotic Lower Reshanta. No numerical drop rate was announced.
Scope Note
Altgard shares its name with a region in the original AION. Everything above comes from AION 2's own material. The two games' maps are not a one-to-one carry-over, and a place from the first game should not be assumed to exist here.

Exploration maps and pet routes
Altgard Global Exploration Route maps all 15 Stronghold reference positions and gives three bounded search segments around Kibelisks, combining Empyrean Traces, possible Hidden Cube spots and Cogni or Natura pet monsters. The maps show coordinate relationships; the suggested search order still needs to be adapted to terrain.
