Spacetime Rifts are portals that open on a timer and let players cross into the opposing faction's territory for a limited stay. Along with the Abyss, they are one of the main places where Elyos and Asmodians meet. NCsoft's global server matchmaking explainer, published on September 28, 2026 (Pacific time), names Spacetime Rifts and the Abyss among the modes where you face the other faction, and says the opponents you meet in them come from the server yours is paired with (see Server Matching).

The details below come from the Korean service, where Rifts have run since launch on November 19, 2025. As of October 7, 2026, NCsoft has not published the global Rift timetable. Its launch-server matchmaking notice of October 4, 2026 again names the Spacetime Rifts and the Abyss as the places where the factions meet.
A Rift portal opens in a faction's territory and leads into the other faction's region. Characters who cross have a limited time they can stay there, and each character's Rift time is tracked.
Paired servers share their Rifts. On the Korean service, even after March 25, 2026, when the Abyss began matching servers of the same faction against each other, Rifts continued to match only opposing factions.
Rifts reach the Chapter 1 regions as well: the July 8, 2026 patch stopped players who had come into Eltnen or Morheim through a Rift from teleporting on into Verteron or Altgard.
A character inside a Rift cannot enter a Nightmare dungeon (since April 15, 2026), the Shugo Festa or Dimensional Invasion (since July 29, 2026).
The official guidebook (updated September 23, 2026) describes the current rules. A Rift is a portal into the other faction's territory. Portals appear every three hours, at 2, 5, 8 and 11 o'clock each day, and can be entered for 15 minutes; the patch notes last set the portal's open time at ten minutes, on November 26, 2025. A server-wide system message announces each Rift, and map icons show where the portals spawned. The number of players who can enter is capped, and once it is full nobody else can go through. On the other side, players can run the other faction's Sealed Dungeons and Stronghold missions and fight enemy players who have PvP mode turned on.
Date | Change on the Korean service |
|---|---|
November 19, 2025 | Fixed the Rift portal not appearing every four hours from 10:00 |
November 21, 2025 | Rift duration cut from one hour to 30 minutes, and the time a character may stay in enemy territory from one hour to 30 minutes |
November 22, 2025 | The number of players who can enter raised to 200 |
November 26, 2025 | Taking the Rift quest and using the portal require level 45. The stay is one hour, the portal stays open for ten minutes, and players cannot attack targets five or more levels above or below them. |
December 3, 2025 | Rifts open on a three-hour cycle, at 2, 5, 8 and 11 o'clock every day. The number of players who can cross raised from 200 to 400. |
December 10, 2025 | Two more portal spawn points per region, six more per faction |
April 22, 2026 | Fixed loading screens and disconnected time not being deducted from a character's Rift time |
Attacking an enemy NPC or Kisk switches your PvP mode on for ten minutes, without the usual 70-minute wait between combat state changes (December 24, 2025).
PvP mode inside a Rift grants a buff that raises Abyss Points gains (December 24, 2025).
Abyss Points from Rift PvP count toward the Abyss Point cap (December 24, 2025). Once the cap is reached, Rifts keep paying a much smaller amount (March 11, 2026).
On December 24, 2025 a fault let Rift PvP bypass the Abyss Point cap and the daily limit on killing the same target, from the regular maintenance until a temporary maintenance at 5:30 PM. NCsoft suspended 44 accounts for seven days and removed the excess points along with anything made from them.
Since September 2, 2026 two weekly Rift challenge missions have been merged, so killing a player of the other faction anywhere in Verteron, Altgard, Eltnen or Morheim counts toward them. Kills in Spacetime Rift: Domination do not count. See PK and Duels for the PvP mode rules and the PvP titles.
Besides Abyss Points, hidden cubes found through Rifts can contain wings, and since December 24, 2025 those wings match the finder's own faction. A character's remaining Rift time moves with it on a server transfer.
The Spacetime Rift: Domination mode, added on the Korean service on September 2, 2026, is a large scheduled battle built on the Rift system. It uses the 8 PM and 11 PM Rift openings on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and turns the Rift into a contest over strongholds in Verteron or Altgard.
