Sorcerer

Added weapon stat identities, the loadout-to-role pairing table, hard-cast and mobility weaknesses, the no-support-class design note, and a dated list of unpublished specifics; removed the unsourced armor-weight row and corrected the claim that the class was playable in the first beta
The Sorcerer is a mage class specializing in AoE damage and supportive magic. Sorcerers harness arcane power to devastate enemies from range while providing healing and utility to allies.
The Sorcerer was not playable in the first Closed Beta Test (June 2025). Only the Swordsman, Ranger and Berserker were available, and no test since has included the Sorcerer.
A note on sourcing. As of 2026-09-11 no developer note, store listing or official site text names the Sorcerer or describes a single one of its skills. Everything below comes from reveal-era class copy, from preview footage, and from the stat lines carried by Sorcerer weapons that were visible in the June 2025 build's public data even though the class itself could not be played. None of it is hands-on.
The Sorcerer is sometimes listed among the three classes playable in that first test. That is wrong. The playable trio was Swordsman, Ranger and Berserker.

Sorcerer magic is fueled by Mana, which replenishes through the endless flow of time. Unlike melee classes that generate resources through combat, Sorcerers rely on passive regeneration. A crafted Mana potion appears in the consumable list documented from the June 2025 build and restores the bar instantly.
The primary damage weapon. Channels elemental energy for destructive spells with long range. Includes AoE cones, ground effects, and devastating single-target abilities. Staff items carry Damage Boost and damage-over-time stats, and the Staff is two-handed, so equipping it commits half the loadout to raw output.
The utility weapon. Manipulates time to expose enemy weaknesses, slow targets, and manage cooldowns. Provides crowd control options and synergizes with time manipulation mechanics. In gear terms the Manasphere is the class's one-handed option, built around Critical Rate and Mana Reduction, which makes it the crit-scaling damage choice rather than a pure utility piece. The time-magic debuff framing above comes from reveal-era class copy and has not been demonstrated in released footage.
The support weapon. Emits radiant light to heal allies and provide shields. Has the shortest cast times of the Sorcerer weapons, allowing quicker reactions. The Grimoire is two-handed, and every Grimoire visible in public gear data, including at higher tiers, carries Healing as a main stat alongside Max Mana and Mana Reduction. That stat line is why the Sorcerer counts as a real healer rather than a nominal one.
Like every class the Sorcerer picks two of its three weapons and swaps between them in combat, covered in Dual Weapon Switching. The Sorcerer is the one class where the outcome of each pair has been described rather than guessed, because healing sits on a specific weapon instead of on the class.
Equipped pair | What it produces |
|---|---|
Staff and Manasphere | Pure damage, with no healing available |
Staff and Grimoire | Damage and healing hybrid |
Manasphere and Grimoire | Critical-scaling damage and healing hybrid |
This is worth separating from the recommended pairings that appear on other class pages. Those are build suggestions written by players. These three are a published mapping from loadout to role, and nothing equivalent exists for the other five classes. In practice it means a party does not ask whether it has a Sorcerer, it asks whether the Sorcerer brought a Grimoire.
Sorcerers deal unrivaled AoE damage but have low defenses and long cast times. The playstyle requires careful positioning and timing to avoid being caught during ability animations.
Despite the fragile appearance, Sorcerers are described as carrying survival tools: vanishing from sight for a short window, and freezing opponents in place. Both come from reveal-era class descriptions. As of 2026-09-11 neither has been shown in released footage or named in a developer note, so treat them as advertised rather than demonstrated.
Chrono Odyssey has no dedicated support class. In a February 2026 producer question-and-answer session Chrono Studio said support utility is routed through Matrix System nodes on weapons instead, so any class can contribute to a party's performance depending on the combat situation. The Sorcerer is not an exception to that design, it is the clearest illustration of it: its healing arrives through a weapon rather than through a class role.
Like every class, the Sorcerer plugs into the Matrix System, the node-based progression layer Chrono Studio announced after the June 2025 closed beta. Each of the Sorcerer's three weapons (Staff, Manasphere, and Grimoire) can evolve down one of four distinct paths, so two players on the same loadout can end up with different casting speeds, skill effects, and combat rhythm. The difference comes from the stats allocated through the Matrix, the passive skills unlocked along a path, and the attributes on equipped gear. The node layout is still under development, so treat specific path details as subject to change before launch.
Highest AoE damage potential
Versatile between damage and support
Time manipulation synergy
Defensive options through vanish and freeze
Healing without changing class, by equipping a Grimoire
Control abilities that slow or disable enemies
Low defenses
Long cast times create vulnerability
Requires precise positioning
High skill floor
Most spells have to be hard cast
Less mobility than the other classes
Resource management gets demanding in long fights
As of 2026-09-11, none of the following exists on any surface checked for this article:
Any Sorcerer skill name, cast time, cooldown or Mana cost.
Which elements the class actually uses, beyond the general description of elemental magic.
The Sorcerer's Matrix paths. Four paths per weapon and twelve per class is confirmed as the structure, but no path has been named for any class.
A swap-draw passive for any Sorcerer weapon. Those were recorded in the June 2025 build only for the three classes playable in it.
Any figure for Mana itself: bar size, regeneration rate or spell cost.
All of it was deferred by the studio until a test that includes the class, and no second closed beta has been dated.
