Sorcerer is the high-ceiling caster: the biggest numbers in the roster and the least tolerance for being hit. Its kit splits along two lines, a fire branch built for single-target damage and an ice branch built for control and area damage, and most builds lean one way rather than mixing evenly.
Field | Detail |
|---|---|
Role | Magic damage |
Weapon | A spellcasting weapon; NCsoft has not published the exact type in English |
Signature mechanic | A fire and ice branch split, delayed detonation effects, and a seal that silences and restricts |
Party fit | Damage and control in five-player Expedition and ten-player Sanctuary content |
How It Plays
Cast times make Sorcerer the class most punished by movement mechanics, and the compensation is that it brings hard control the physical damage classes do not. The ice branch's prison effect turns into a seal that both silences and restricts, which gives the class a genuine job in PvP beyond damage.
The class has been reworked more often than most. A late-April 2026 patch added PvP-side buffs, and a mid-May pass retuned a defensive armour cooldown and an offensive frost ability, with the stated aim of sharpening the class's identity at the high end of solo and small-group content without inflating its raid contribution.
Naming Note
An English report of NCsoft's global press presentation rendered this class as Mage. Every other source, including NCsoft's own English global teaser material, calls it Sorcerer, and Sorcerer is the name used here.
Party Synergy
Sorcerer lost its party-wide synergy effects in the April 21, 2026 pass along with the other three pure damage classes, and was included in the six-class numerical pass a week later.
Shared Systems
Every class runs the same underlying loop: tab-targeting with active dodge and parry, skill chains that prompt a follow-up key, a Groggy stagger gauge on bosses, and Perfect Block or Perfect Dodge windows on a well-timed input. Loadouts hold twelve active skills, a set of Stigma slots and ten passives, allocated with Mastery Points and Stigma Shards.
Naming and Sourcing
Ability names on this page are translated from Korean patch notes for the Korean and Taiwanese live build. NCsoft has not published official English names for most individual skills, so treat any single ability name as provisional and any single number as a live-build snapshot.
