Overview

Toolbox is a Workbench upgrade station in Windrose. It is an upgrade extender that, once snapped to a base Workbench, raises that Workbench to Level 3 and unlocks its iron-tier tool recipes, including the Iron Axe, Iron Pickaxe, and nail-based iron utility items.

Toolbox is an upgrade extender that snaps to a Workbench. Placing it inside the base station's extender footprint unlocks the recipes gated behind this extender on the base station's own craft list. It does not craft items on its own; the base station handles all recipes.

Placement Strategy

The base Workbench starts at Level 1. Adding a Sawhorse raises it to Level 2, and adding the Toolbox raises it to Level 3, which is the top tier. The Tool Shelf is the alternative Level 3 extender that uses Hardwood instead of iron, so you can reach Level 3 by whichever materials you have on hand. Five Foothills Iron Ingot and twenty Nails place the Toolbox in the mid-game refining window, after the Smelting Furnace has been running for a while. Once it is up, iron tools at the base Workbench speed up every gathering and mining loop downstream.

Tips

• Nails are Workbench-crafted. The Toolbox's 20-Nail requirement is circular: build Nails at the base Workbench first, then snap the Toolbox on.

• Iron tools unlocked here cut Hardwood and break tougher ore nodes that Copper and Stone tools cannot.

• Attach the Toolbox after the Sawhorse and Tool Shelf to close out the Workbench extender loadout.

Extends: place the Toolbox next to a Workbench to boost that station to its Level 3 tier. It has no craft list of its own; the base Workbench gains the unlocked recipes.

Progression Notes

The Toolbox sits inside the crafting progression chain rather than being a standalone collectible. Build Nails at the base Workbench first (the 20-Nail requirement is circular, since Nails are themselves a Workbench craft), smelt the Foothills Iron Ingot at the Smelting Furnace, then snap the Toolbox on to reach Level 3 and open the iron tool line.
