Rare effect | After reloading, waiting 6 seconds before firing increases the next volley's Damage by 40%. |
Epic effect (adds) | Epic ascension: preserves the Rare bonus and adds further damage scaling on the next volley. |
12-pounders are the starter caliber. Fits the Stock Ketch and every early-tier hull variant. Mounts on Brig classes as the main battery or Frigate classes as a secondary.
Tempered cannons reward patience. The 6-second delay gate means a player who fires immediately after reload loses the 40% damage bonus; the player who waits the full 6 seconds before firing lands a burst volley that hits 40% harder. In practice this punishes reflexive firing during the opening of an engagement; it rewards held volleys timed to the enemy's turn window. Pair with Naval Tactics I: Ambush (130% damage on the next volley after 2 minutes without damage dealt or taken) for an opening-volley specialist loadout.
Devastating variant: stacks Raked for 25 seconds (up to 3 stacks) to raise damage dealt to the target. Strong for long hauler fights.
Tempered (this variant): rewards the 6-second delay before firing with +40% next-volley damage. Best for burst opens and timed volleys.
Perfectly Ordered variant: rewards chain-fire rotations with +30% reload speed for 22s. Different playstyle from Tempered.
