Large Smelting Furnace is a refiningcraft station in Windrose. The upper-tier smelting station. Produces Copper Ingot, Foothills Iron Ingot, Mire Metal Ingot, Essence Arborum, and Glass Bottle, and is the only station that can refine Mire Metal.

Placement Strategy

The Large Smelting Furnace is one of only two refining stations in the game that produces Mire Metal Ingot, the other being certain world forges tied to quest chains. Mire Metal gates the entire jewelery extender line and most late-game weapon upgrades, which makes the Large Smelting Furnace a top-priority refining build. Its outdoor placement requirement, Comfort +1, and Foothills Iron Ingot cost all point to a mid-game base expansion rather than a first-camp install.

Tips

• Place the furnace outdoors but within Bonfire range. Indoor placement will fail the station even if the roof allows it.

• Comfort +1 from the furnace does not stack with other fire sources. Pair it with an indoor Cooking Fire or Charcoal Kiln to cover separate Comfort slots.

• Queue Mire Metal Ingot batches overnight. Thirty-second cook times mean a single gameplay session pushes enough ingots for a full late-game equipment build.

• Charcoal is the invisible chokepoint for ingot production. Build a Charcoal Kiln next to the furnace so you do not run dry mid-smelt.
