Overview

Cornmeal is a processed cooking ingredient milled from Corn. It is ground at the Millstone, not at the Cooking Fire, and serves as the base starch for several meta dishes and a number of simple early-game recipes.

How to Get

• Harvest corn at the ancient farm in the Foothills (south-left area).

• Farm corn yourself at a Seedbed once seeds are in hand.

• Grind Corn into cornmeal at the Millstone: 2 Corn yields 1 Cornmeal in about 15 seconds.

Millstone Pipeline

Cornmeal is produced at the Millstonenot at the Cooking Fire. Earlier versions of this article or similar community guides conflated the two stations. The Millstone is a dedicated small-scale station the player builds after first picking up Corn in the Foothills (which automatically unlocks the Millstone Parts recipe).

The 2-to-1 Corn-to-Cornmeal ratio and the roughly 15-second grind time are consistent across current community data. The Millstone runs the recipe in batches, so queuing a stack of Corn lets it grind unattended while you handle other tasks.

Other Millstone Outputs

The Millstone is a multi-purpose grinder. Alongside cornmeal it produces Bone Meal from Bones (5 Bones to 1 Bone Meal, about 15 seconds), and it is the station that turns Ash and Sulfur into Gunpowder. A well-placed Millstone therefore feeds cooking, farming, and powder progression at the same time.

Stockpiling and Weight

Cornmeal weighs 0.3 per unit and stacks to 100, so a full stack is light enough to keep on hand for cooking runs. Because so many recipes draw on it (every Taco needs six and Swamp Pie needs four), it pays to grind a large batch of Corn whenever you pass a Millstone rather than milling one or two at a time.
