Like every snap-together piece in Windrose, this part is placed from the build menu as a silhouette preview that locks onto compatible Building Pieces before you spend any materials, so you can line it up exactly before committing. It is part of the wider Base Building system, where structures must sit inside a settlement's bonfire radius to stay functional.
Demolishing a placed piece refunds 100% of its construction cost, so swapping a Wood version for a higher tier later carries no material penalty beyond the time to rebuild. Higher material tiers unlock as you explore new islands and recover recipe plans from points of interest.
