This page answers common questions about Tropico 7 using what Kalypso Media and Gaming Minds Studios have published as of October 21, 2026. The game is unreleased, so details may change before launch.

When does Tropico 7 come out?

January 28, 2027. Kalypso originally announced a 2026 release and revealed the January 2027 date in the gameplay trailer on August 26, 2026. See Release Date and Platforms.

Which platforms is it coming to?

PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), Xbox on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, and day one with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. A Tropico 7 Special Edition is planned for Nintendo Switch 2 with mouse controls for Joy-Con 2 controllers and GameChat functionality. As of October 21, 2026, Kalypso has not given the Special Edition a release date separate from the other versions.

How much does it cost?

The Standard Edition costs €54.99 / $54.99 / £49.99 and the Deluxe Edition €69.99 / $69.99 / £59.99. Digital pre-orders carry a 10% discount; on PlayStation, the discount is for PlayStation Plus members only. See Editions and Pre-Order Bonuses.

What do I get for pre-ordering?

Every pre-order includes the Supervillain outfit for El Presidente. Pre-ordering the Deluxe Edition also gives access to the game 48 hours before the official launch.

What is in the Deluxe Edition?

The Bunker palace facade, the Revolutionary outfit for El Presidente, 7 presidential deco items (Radar Tower, Satellite System and Flak Battery for the palace rooftop; Crocodile Pit, Bunker, Flak Battery and Ammo Depot for the palace garden), the digital compendium "Making of Tropico 7" and the Original Soundtrack as a digital download.

Will there be a physical version?

Yes. The Deluxe Edition will be released as a physical retail edition on January 28, 2027 for selected platforms and territories. As of October 21, 2026, those platforms and territories have not been named.

Is there a demo?

Yes. A free demo is available on Steam, released on October 19, 2026 and promoted during Steam Next Fest. It contains the first campaign mission, "Little Great Britain". See Tropico 7 Demo.

Does Tropico 7 have multiplayer?

Not at launch. Kalypso plans to add a 4-player mode as a free update after release. As of October 21, 2026, no date has been given. See Multiplayer.

Will Tropico 7 support mods?

Undecided. The official FAQ says: "We are currently focused on the announced features and this is to be determined."

What are the PC system requirements?

64-bit Windows 11, DirectX 12, 16 GB RAM and 40 GB of storage. The minimum graphics card is a GeForce RTX 2060 or Radeon RX 5600XT with 6 GB VRAM; the recommended card is a GeForce RTX 4060 or Radeon RX 7600XT. See System Requirements.

Which languages are supported?

Interface and subtitles are available in German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Arabic, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. Voice over is in German, English, Spanish and Simplified Chinese. Brazilian Portuguese is only in the release version, not the demo.

Who is developing the game?

Gaming Minds Studios, Kalypso's in-house studio with offices in Gütersloh and Paderborn. It is the studio's first Tropico game. The game runs on the studio's own Gaming Minds Engine.

Is there a story campaign?

Yes. The campaign spans 5 campaign maps and follows El Presidente from a colonial governor serving the British Crown to the ruler of his own island. It stars El Presidente, Penultimo and a new nemesis, Victoria Guerra.

What is new compared with Tropico 6?

Kalypso lists terraforming, scalable zones, deeper transportation mechanics, El Presidente walking through the city on foot, free or grid-based building placement, a faction and superpower matrix, a Council system and an edicts diagram. The Council replaces the pop-up ultimatums of Tropico 6. See Tropico Series for more context.

How many factions are there?

Eight factions in total. Depending on the era, 2 to 6 of them are represented at the same time. You meet their spokespeople in the Council. See Factions and the Council.

How many eras are there?

Four: Colonial Times, World Wars, Cold War and Modern Times. See Eras.

How many maps and scenarios are there?

Besides the 5 campaign maps, the game has 10 scenario missions at launch, more than 20 sandbox maps and a random map generator. The FAQ counts over 40 premade maps in total. See Scenarios and Sandbox Maps.

What is the age rating?

ESRB Teen and PEGI 12. The German version of the FAQ lists USK 12.
