Steam also states that the game requires a 64-bit processor and operating system. The memory and storage figures are the same for both tiers; the difference lies in the processor and graphics card.
Operating system support
The Steam version is listed for Windows only. As of October 20, 2026, the store data shows no macOS or Linux version. Windows 11 is the only operating system named in either tier, so earlier versions of Windows are not listed as supported.
Demo
The free Tropico 7 Demo on Steam is also Windows only. As of October 2026, Kalypso has not published separate requirements for it.
Consoles
Tropico 7 is also coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and, as the Tropico 7 Special Edition, Nintendo Switch 2 (see Release Date and Platforms). The requirements above apply only to PC. Xbox on PC and PC Game Pass are PC platforms, and as of October 2026 Kalypso has not published separate requirements for them.
Before September 2026
The first version of the official FAQ, published on April 29, 2026, said the system requirements were "still to be determined". The Steam announcement of September 28, 2026 pointed readers to the updated FAQ, which now lists them and shows a last update of September 30, 2026.
