Removed out-of-scope original-game and Below Zero sections; kept confirmed Subnautica 2 details
The Fabricator is the primary crafting station in Subnautica 2. It is a wall-mounted device that converts raw materials into tools, equipment, consumables, and components. The Fabricator is available from the start of the game and is the first crafting interface the player interacts with.
Subnautica 2 follows the same five-stage crafting loop as the franchise: Explore, Discover, Craft, Build, Survive. Players unlock new recipes by scanning objects with the Scanner and exploring Planet Zezura's biomes. The crafting and resources system has been overhauled with resource-specific nodes instead of randomized outcrops, and the base-building system has received a significant rework, but the Fabricator's role as the central crafting station continues.
Availability: Confirmed to ship in Early Access as the central crafting station.
Crafting flow: Players gather resources from the world, scan technology fragments to unlock blueprints, and use the Fabricator to assemble items from those blueprints.
Decimal inventory: Fits into Subnautica 2's resource-specific inventory model (resource nodes drop typed materials, not generic outcrop chunks).
Specific Fabricator recipe trees, crafting tabs, and the full list of stations available at Early Access launch have not been officially detailed. This article will be updated as Unknown Worlds shares the Subnautica 2 Fabricator interface during the Early Access period.
