Splendid Wonderland: A Dream of Blue Tears is a limited-time seasonal event in Starsand Island. It takes place at Half-Moon Bay during nighttime hours, featuring a bioluminescent display where glowing blue "tears" appear in the ocean waves along the shoreline. The event is one of three seasonal events on the island, alongside the Beach Festival (Summer 27) and the Chinese New Year Festival (Spring Festival).
Players receive a mail notification from Solara when the event is active, alerting them to visit Half-Moon Bay during the evening hours.
Detail | Information |
|---|---|
Event Name | Splendid Wonderland: A Dream of Blue Tears |
Location | Half-Moon Bay shoreline |
Active Hours | 21:00 to 02:00 (9 PM to 2 AM in-game time) |
Notification | Letter in your mailbox announces the event |
Type | Atmospheric/visual experience with gathering opportunity |
Duration | One evening (approximately 5 in-game hours) |
When the event is active, blue bioluminescent "tears" begin appearing in the water along the Half-Moon Bay shoreline starting around 9 PM. The effect intensifies over the course of the evening, with the water becoming progressively more sparkly and the blue glow growing denser as midnight approaches.
The visual display resembles real-world bioluminescent plankton blooms, where ocean waves glow with an ethereal blue light. The effect is most dramatic between 10 PM and midnight, when the density of glowing particles reaches its peak. After midnight, the glow gradually fades until it disappears around 2 AM.
Time | What to Expect |
|---|---|
9:00 PM | First blue "tears" begin appearing in the water as waves come and go. |
10:00 PM | The effect builds noticeably. Blue glow becomes more consistent across the shoreline. |
11:00 PM to Midnight | Peak intensity. The water is densely sparkly with a bright blue glow. |
12:00 AM to 2:00 AM | Gradual fade. The bioluminescence slowly diminishes until the event ends. |
During the event, Glowing Blue Shells can be found scattered on the ground along the Half-Moon Bay shoreline. These are rare collectible items that serve as a secondary currency, separate from standard coins and Starsand Points.
Glowing Shells can be exchanged for exclusive furnishing blueprints at Lex Woodworks. Open the Island Map, travel to Lex Woodworks, interact with the cash register, and select the "Glowing Shell Exchange" tab to browse and purchase exclusive furniture blueprints that are not available through any other method.
Do not sell Glowing Shells to regular vendors. They have minimal sell value at shops, and you will permanently lose access to the exclusive blueprints they can unlock. Save every shell you find for the Lex Woodworks exchange.
Glowing Shells also spawn during the summer season and during the Beach Festival event, but they appear in higher concentrations during the Splendid Wonderland event. Collect as many as you can during the event window.
The event is primarily an atmospheric experience. Unlike the Beach Festival (which features offshore racing, crab herding, shell collecting, and exclusive vendors), Splendid Wonderland focuses on the visual spectacle itself. The main tangible benefit is the increased Glowing Shell spawn rate.
Event | Season | Duration | Activities | Exclusive Rewards |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Summer 27 | One day (with 2-day preparation) | Offshore Racing, Crab Herding, Shell Collecting, Beach Market | Beach Coin currency, exclusive blueprints, furniture, outfits | |
Late Winter / Early Spring | Multi-day | Festival activities, decorations | Festival-themed furniture, outfits | |
Splendid Wonderland | Varies (limited-time notification) | One evening (21:00 to 02:00) | Visual display, Glowing Shell gathering | Glowing Shells (exchangeable at Lex Woodworks) |
As of the Early Access build (March 2026), the Splendid Wonderland event appears to be partially implemented. Some players have reported that the bioluminescent visual effects do not always display correctly. Reports from the Steam Community include:
Some players see no visual changes at all during the event window, despite receiving the mail notification.
Others report the water turning sparkly with the blue glow as expected.
A few players noted that "no one is even on the beach" during the event, suggesting NPC presence may not be fully implemented yet.
Restarting the game or switching between Gaming Mode and Desktop Mode (on Steam Deck) has resolved the rendering issue for some players.
The event currently has no structured minigames or exclusive vendor stalls associated with it. This may change as the game progresses through Early Access toward the full 1.0 release in Summer 2026. The Beach Festival and Chinese New Year Festival both received significant content additions during Early Access, so Splendid Wonderland may receive similar treatment.
Check your mailbox regularly. The event notification arrives by letter, and it is easy to miss among other mail.
Visit Half-Moon Bay between 10 PM and midnight for the most intense visual effect. The bioluminescence builds over time and peaks around midnight.
Walk the entire shoreline during the event to collect Glowing Blue Shells. They are scattered on the ground and have a low spawn rate, so thorough exploration is important.
Bring a camera. The Photo Mode works during the event, and the blue glow creates stunning screenshot opportunities, especially when combined with the moonlit ocean backdrop.
If you do not see the visual effects during the event window, try restarting the game. Some players have reported the effect not rendering on first visit.
Save every Glowing Shell you find. Do not sell them to vendors. The exclusive blueprints available at Lex Woodworks cannot be obtained any other way.
The event may receive additional content (activities, rewards, vendors) in future updates. Check the Post-Launch Roadmap for developer announcements.
