Overview

Green Sunfish is a small, colorful freshwater fish found in the Lake zones of Starsand Island, including Cloudrest Lake and other freshwater bodies across the island. It is one of the more common lake species, making it a solid early catch for players working through the Angler Profession questline. Despite its modest sell price, Green Sunfish has practical value as a cooking ingredient and a reliable source of Fish Fillet.

How to Catch

Green Sunfish can be found in any Lake fishing spot during Spring and Summer. Head to Cloudrest Lake or the smaller ponds scattered around the island. Equip your Fishing Rod and toss either Bug Bait or Meat Bait into the water before casting. Green Sunfish appear between 12:00 PM and 2:00 AM, so afternoon and evening fishing sessions are ideal. They bite in both Sunny and Rainy weather, which gives you a wide window to target them.

Uses

Like all fish in Starsand Island, Green Sunfish serves multiple purposes:

• Cooking: Process Green Sunfish into Fish Fillet at the Separator, then use the fillet as an ingredient in fish-based cooking recipes such as Grilled Fish, Fish Head Tofu Soup, and Sauerkraut Fish. Cooking fish into meals before selling yields higher profit than raw sales.

• Bait Production: Green Sunfish can be turned into Minced Fish Bait at the Chopper, which is essential for catching fish in the Coral Sea and other deep-sea fishing zones.

• Fish Pond: Place Green Sunfish in a Fish Pond for breeding and display. Two Green Sunfish in a pond with Fish Feed will eventually produce eggs that can be incubated.

• Gifting: Some NPCs enjoy receiving fish as gifts, which can help build friendship levels.

• Islandpedia: Catching Green Sunfish for the first time counts toward your Islandpedia stamp completion.

Tips

• Green Sunfish shares the Lake zone with Bighead Carp, so you may catch both during a single session at Cloudrest Lake.

• Since Green Sunfish sells for only 70 Coins raw, consider processing it into Fish Fillet and cooking meals for a better return.

• Selling at the Merchant Ship at Starsand Port doubles the sell price to 140 Coins, making it a worthwhile trip for bulk sales.

• Green Sunfish is available for more than half the year (Spring and Summer), so stock up before Autumn arrives.
