Celeb Moth is exclusive to the Moonlit Forest underground dungeon. Because the forest has its own constant environment, no season or weather conditions apply, but you must travel through the dungeon to find it.
Catching follows the standard Bug Net process. Each successful catch contributes to the Islandpedia Bio Research category and the Stamp Collection.
Equip the Bug Net in your hotbar.
Spot Celeb Moth in the world.
Sneak up by toggling walk mode (CTRL on PC, R3 on controller). Bugs flee if you run toward them.
Watch the pattern. Bugs follow predictable flight paths. Observe for a few seconds before swinging.
Lead the swing. There is a slight delay when swinging the net. Aim where the bug is about to be, not where it is right now.
If you miss, wait 10 to 15 seconds. The bug will calm down and resume its pattern.
Season: All four seasons (always available, regardless of season).
Weather: Any weather.
Active hours: 6:00 AM to 2:00 AM
Selling. Bugs sell for approximately 30 to 100 Coins each at Zerine's General Store. Selling in bulk is a reliable early-game income source.
Protein Powder (Separator). The Separator processes bugs into Protein Powder, used in select cooking recipes.
Bug Bait (fishing). Bug Bait is one of three bait types, produced at the Chopper using caught bugs.
Bulletin Board requests. The Request Bulletin board outside the Community Center sometimes asks for specific insects.
NPC gifts. Bruce loves bugs, while most other residents dislike or hate them. Give bugs to Bruce; give flowers and crops to everyone else.
Islandpedia. Each new bug species you catch is recorded in the Islandpedia Bio Research category and contributes to the Stamp Collection milestones.
Bring the Bug Net into the forest. Many Moonlit Forest visits skip bug catching, so it is easy to miss Celeb Moth without the net equipped.
Always carry the Bug Net. Some bugs have narrow time windows, and you do not want to spot a rare one without a net equipped.
Track on the map. The Phone Apps weather forecast helps plan butterfly and outdoor bug runs.
