Expanded with deep-sea zones, Moonlit Forest fishing, bait types, rod progression, and fishing mechanics.
There are over 100 fish and sea creatures to catch across Starsand Island. Fish are found in five types of water: lakes, rivers, the ocean, deep-sea zones (unlocked after building the Starsand Port), and Moonlit Forest waters. Each fish has specific requirements for location, time of day, season, weather, and bait type. Fishing costs 10 Energy per catch. See the Fishing article for full mechanics, or the money-making guide for sell strategies.
Your fishing mentor is Delphin at the AquaBlue Outpost on the right side of Half-Moon Bay. Cast your line near fish shadows — round ripples at distance, fish-shaped shadows up close. Hold to reel in and watch the tension indicator: white means safe, red means danger. Release tension when the line turns red to avoid breaking it.
Better rods reduce tension buildup and make catching larger fish easier.
Wooden Rod — Starter rod from Delphin
Chrono Rod — Apprentice tier, requires Copper materials
Silent Rod — Needs Carbon Line and Charcoal
Cloud Rod — Mid-game upgrade
Noble Rod — Deep-sea capable, requires Prism and Iron Sheets
Solar Rod — Intermediate tier
Titanium Rod — Senior tier, endgame; tension bar barely moves
Astra Rod — Endgame rod
Meat Bait — Attracts carnivorous fish (sharks, tuna, swordfish)
Veggie Bait — Attracts herbivorous fish
Bug Bait — Needed for specific picky species
Omni Bait / Minced Fish Bait — Universal bait accepted by most fish

Deep-sea zones unlock after completing the Starsand Port Construction quest from Marston (requires 15 Stone + 15 Softwood). Once the port is built, rent a yacht for 150 Coins per hour and take the Parrot Ship to reach three deep-sea zones:
Coral Sea — Humphead Wrasse, Blue Tang. All seasons, 08:00–18:00. Meat and Veggie Bait.
Luminwave — Mola Mola (Sunfish), Tuna. All seasons, 08:00–18:00. Meat Bait.
Celestwave — Ribbon Eel, Mandarinfish. Nighttime only (20:00–02:00). Meat and Veggie Bait.
The Moonlit Forest has unique fish in its underground waterways. Known fishing spots include:
Darkwater Shore — Green Swordtail and other dark-adapted species
Dreamfall Garden — Pearl Glowfish, near the Crystalith boss area
Spore Cascade — Rare cave-dwelling fish
Spiritshade River — Deep forest fish species
Fish shadows appear in the water — look for round ripples at distance and fish-shaped shadows up close.
Higher-tier rods drastically reduce the chance of line breaks on large fish.
Cooking fish into dishes increases their sell value significantly. See the cooking guide for recipes.
The Merchant Ship at Starsand Port buys items at 200% value — save rare fish for it.
