A few practical tips for new Pioneers getting started in Soulbound: Online. The core rhythm is Home, Craft, Dungeon, Gather, Home, so most advice comes back to feeding that loop.
Early Tips
Tip | Why It Helps |
|---|---|
Build by gear, not by class | The game is classless, so swap gear to change between tank, healer and damage roles instead of committing to one. |
Chase relics that reshape abilities | Inside a run, favor relics that change how an ability behaves over ones that only add a flat stat. The strongest builds are usually emergent. |
Run in co-op | Most dungeon rungs take up to 3 players; split tank, healer and damage between the party to clear faster. Solo runs are tuned slightly tougher than group runs. |
Invest in your base | Higher-level crafting stations unlock better gear tiers, so upgrading your base is what raises your power ceiling. |
Upgrade abilities between runs | Permanent ability upgrades bought outside a run widen the relic options that ability can offer you inside one. |
Watch stamina, not Yoku | Gathering costs 3 stamina per action. Reward chests no longer cost anything to open, so there is no daily Yoku budget to ration. Weapons and armour now craft in five seconds, so the jobs still worth queuing before you log off are smelting, cooking and Chemistry Lab refining, which runs from about twenty-six minutes for a Yoku Fillet up to roughly an hour and a half for the Celestial version. |
Gather in the overworld | The overworld has no roaming enemies, so it is for gathering, trading and life skills; fighting happens in dungeons. |
Group up for XP | Experience rates inside a party were increased significantly in Patch 4, so grouping is now the most efficient experience farm. Higher-tier dungeons also award more combat skill XP than they used to. |
Leave generators and smelters running | Generators now produce twice as much power at every tier, and stations keep working while you are logged off as long as the generator stays fuelled. The Charged Cell, a high-tier fuel that drops from T4 to T6 hacking nodes, gives three times the power of coal. |
Turn on combat logs | Real-time combat logging can be switched on from the settings and account menu. The game then writes log files to the local game data folder, which you can read back to review your own performance. A simpler in-game metrics display is planned for a later update. |
