Soulbound: Online has no fixed classes. Your "class" is whatever your current gear and abilities make it, and you can change it instantly by swapping gear. As the studio puts it, you can tank for your friends one day and rain ranged damage the next; your character is every class you want it to be, whenever you want.
Ability Classes

The game ships with more than 10 distinct ability classes, each with branching relic paths. Combined, these produce over 100 unique build combinations per run. Abilities pair with multiple weapon archetypes and skill trees, so two players nominally using the same ability can play very differently.
Confirmed Examples
A handful of specific abilities have been shown directly. These are safe reference points for how builds come together in combat.
Ability | How It Plays |
|---|---|
Pyrosphere | A mage ability; shown stacked with a chain-lightning relic to make packs of enemies evaporate |
Berserker hammer | A heavy melee weapon; shown with a life-steal relic that turns its area damage into party healing |
Beyond these confirmed examples, the earlier browser and Discord version of the game featured a wider roster of abilities. Which of those carry into the Steam build, and in what form, is being settled during Early Access, so they are not listed here as confirmed.
Abilities Shown for the Steam Build
Alongside the relic overhaul, the studio has shown several abilities by name for the Early Access build. Each pairs with the new relics that reshape how it plays.
Ability | What It Does |
|---|---|
Pyrosphere | A mage projectile that explodes on impact; chain-lightning and black-hole relics build off it. |
Blackhole Bomb | Drops a black hole that pulls enemies together; the Wormhole Singularity relic makes it chain to new targets. |
Ice Cube | A freeze ability; the Eternal Winter relic turns it into a frozen zone that locks down a whole room. |
Machine Gun | Sustained rapid fire; the Micro Explosions relic adds incendiary rounds for crowd-control. |
Named Abilities
A handful of abilities have been shown by name. Pyrosphere is a projectile that explodes on impact, demonstrated as a mage tool that pairs with a chain-lightning relic. Other abilities seen in play include Chain Lightning, Fortify (a shield), Healing Pulse (party healing), and Gleam Twins. Abilities scale and unlock relic options as you upgrade them within a run.
Ability | Role |
|---|---|
Pyrosphere | A projectile that explodes on impact; a staple damage ability. |
Chain Lightning | Arcs between enemies, strong against packs. |
Fortify | Provides a shield, scaling with Buff Power. |
Healing Pulse | Heals the party, scaling with Buff Power. |
Gleam Twins | A damage ability used in high-damage builds. |
Inside a run, these pair with the relic you pick up, which is what turns a single ability into many different playstyles.
The wider ability roster from the browser build is still being settled for the Steam release, so only directly shown abilities are listed here.
