The Gods and Worship

Confirmed seven-god roster with domains, quests, blessings; added Altar recipe, teleport, sacrifice mechanic
Worship of the seven Roman gods is a progression system that runs alongside crafting. After the fall of Rome, the gods lost most of their worshippers and, in turn, their powers and connection to the world. Restoring that connection is one of the main ways a player or group grows stronger.
God | Domain | Notable function |
|---|---|---|
Wisdom | Tutorial god; quest hub for The Giant Owl, Worshipping the Gods, Virgil's Poem, The Malformed Satyr Horn, Man of Steel. | |
Agriculture, Crops | Farm and food unlocks; Honoring the Soil quest; Blessing of Ceres grants +25% overall Health. | |
Nature, Hunting, Moon | Bow and ranged/caster offerings route through Diana; The Moonstring quest; Spreadshot upgrade. | |
War | Combat buffs; Sanguis Celeste quest; Grappling Hook offerings; Blessing of Mars grants +10% Melee. | |
Speed, Innovation, Trade | Trading Post and trade-route unlocks; Art of Trade quest. | |
Love, Beauty | The Scent of Memory quest; Blessing of Venus grants +10% overall Health and +10% Energy. | |
Fire, Forge | Smithing and metallurgy; The Copper Consistency quest. |
The Altar is the worship interface. It is crafted at the Workbench with 3 Stone and can be placed anywhere in a settlement. Interacting with it opens the god panel where players can:
Offer items to a chosen god to fill that god's affinity meter. Filling the meter awards 1 Worship Point.
Spend Worship Points in a god's talent tree to unlock construction, stat bonuses, citizen buffs, and Altar Blessings.
Activate one Altar Blessing at a time. Confirmation is required before buying favors.
See and accept quests linked to a specific god.
Altars upgraded to level 2 unlock teleportation. To teleport between two altars, both must be level 2. This lets players move quickly between distant settlements.
Sacrificing a recruited citizen at the Altar grants Worship Points across all gods. The base reward is 5 Worship Points per survivor, and the relevant god gains an additional +10 per level of the survivor's aligned skill. A more advanced citizen is therefore worth more as a sacrifice. The mechanic was added to the worship overhaul that landed with the Early Access patch series.
Some items are designed primarily as offerings rather than for use. The wiki groups them as Worship Items:
Basic Supplies, Scarce Supplies: bulk offerings.
Bloodied Banner, Ripped Banner: Mars-aligned.
Delicate Accessory, Fine Accessory, Handmade Craft, Impressive Craft: Venus / Mercury offerings.
Mediocre Pelts, Torn Pelts: Diana offerings.
Dried Seed Pouch, Mixed Seed Pouch: Ceres offerings.
Golden Scales: late-tier offering.
As players make offerings they discover which gods resonate with which items. The relationship is not random: each god has a domain.
Because each god offers a different set of buffs, technologies, and quests, players (or a co-op group voting together) decide which deities to prioritize. This choice shapes how a settlement and its people develop. There is no penalty for restoring all seven over a long playthrough, but early in a run resources are scarce enough that picking a focus matters.
Restored gods grant talents in the form of favors. These complement the thirteen leveling Skills that scale with use of each weapon class or gathering action. See Crafting and Progression for how worship interacts with the crafting ladder.
