The playable cast of Rewinding Cadence is organised around a single repeated shape: a Spirit Speaker (颂灵者) who fights in the field, bound to a contracted spirit (契约使灵) who fights beside them. The official character page splits its roster along exactly that line, with one tab for the Speakers and one for the spirits they are bound to, and it presents the same set of entries under both.
This page is the roster index. It records who has been shown publicly and what has actually been stated about them. It does not assign elements, rarities, roles, or stat lines, because none of those have been published for any character.
The Returner
The player character is the Returner (归还者), and the official character page ships the Returner in two forms, one female and one male. That makes an appearance choice at the start of a run the most likely reading, in line with how the two entries are presented side by side rather than as separate cast members. The Returner is contracted to Chu, the humanoid spirit who grants the rewind power that the whole time-loop system runs on.
Two lines the studio puts on the Returner's own panel set the character's tone: "No matter how many more times I have to start over, I will keep going forward," and "The sights I saw on the journey, the people I met, those sincere feelings and hopes, are the reason I set out again and again." Chu's panel answers with "I'll help you. Let's do it all over again," and "As long as we don't give up, we can definitely change the endings that have already been set."
Named Spirit Speakers

Beyond the Returner, the official character page carries seven further Speaker entries. No English localisation has been published for any of them, so the only English spellings that exist are the studio's own romanisations. Those are listed below alongside the Chinese names where Chinese-language material has confirmed them.
Romanisation | Chinese name | What is confirmed |
|---|---|---|
Pata | 帕塔 | Leads a treasure-hunting outfit called the Golden Fleece troupe (金羊毛猎团). Got the first dedicated character trailer, released July 8, 2026. Presented as a boisterous treasure hunter whose pitch to the player is recruitment into the troupe. |
Qiuqiu | 秋秋 | Named on the official cast list for the summer wallpaper set. No role published. |
Luluya | 露露娅 | Named on the official cast list for the summer wallpaper set. No role published. |
Xiana | 夏奈 | Appears on the official character page. Named repeatedly by testers writing about the First Playthrough Test build, which places her in that build's playable or story cast. |
Xiuyite | Not published | Appears on the official character page. No role, biography, or Chinese name published. |
Enluoer | Not published | Appears on the official character page. No role, biography, or Chinese name published. |
Ying | Not published | Appears on the official character page. No role, biography, or Chinese name published. |
The absence of a Chinese name in the table above means the Chinese form has not appeared in material this wiki has been able to confirm, not that the character lacks one.
Named Spirits
Spirits are covered in depth on spirit companions. The names below are the ones that have surfaced in official material so far.
Spirit | Chinese name | What is confirmed |
|---|---|---|
初 | The humanoid spirit contracted to the Returner. The only spirit with a published biography and the only one with a dedicated article. | |
Golden Fleece | 金羊毛 | Named on the official cast list. The studio's own introduction to the world describes a goat that symbolises treasure hunting waiting to start the player's adventure, and Pata's troupe carries the same name, so a Pata pairing is strongly implied. The studio has not stated it outright. |
Anata | 安娜塔 | Named on the official cast list. Was prominent enough by mid-2025 to headline convention merchandise. |
Twin Progenitor | 双子真祖 | Named on the official cast list. The name reads as a paired or twin entity. Nothing further published. |
Guaidan | 怪诞 | Named on the official cast list. Nothing further published. |
What Has Not Been Published
For every character other than the Returner and Chu, the following are all unpublished as of early August 2026:
Elements, damage types, or any affinity system tied to a character.
Rarity tiers, and whether a rarity system exists at all. Community sources use incompatible tier vocabularies, which is itself a sign that nothing official has landed.
Stat lines, skill lists, and the skill-card loadouts each character can run.
Acquisition routes. Whether characters arrive through a gacha pull, a story unlock, a milestone reward, or some mix has not been stated. During the First Playthrough Test, characters were granted with their full ability sets on acquisition, but that was a test build with no monetisation running.
Voice cast, in any of the three supported voice languages.
This wiki does not create per-character pages until there is enough published material to fill one without guessing. When a character trailer, a codex entry, or a test build supplies a role and a moveset, that character gets a page and this table gets a link.
