Version History and Updates

This page tracks all software updates, limited-time events, and Mystery Gifts released for Pokemon Pokopia since its launch on March 5, 2026 for the Nintendo Switch 2.

Software Updates

Version 1.0.1 (March 4, 2026)

A mandatory day-one patch released the day before launch. Players must install this update to access any online features, including Cloud Islands, Game Share, and Mystery Gifts. Local communication also requires both players to be on matching game versions.

To update, connect the Switch 2 to the internet and check for software updates through the system menu or the game's eShop page.

Limited-Time Events

Pokopia features rotating limited-time events that introduce exclusive Pokemon, collectible items, and special activities. Events are tied to the Switch 2 system clock.

More Spores for Hoppip

The first limited-time event for Pokopia. During the event period, Hoppip appears wandering around the player's town and can be befriended. Hoppip asks the player to collect Cotton Spores, which are only found on Dream Islands during the event window. Access Dream Islands by giving any doll to Drifloon.

Cotton Spores can be exchanged at the Pokemon Center for exclusive picnic-themed furniture items. These picnic items serve as habitat pieces required to attract Skiploom and Jumpluff, making the full evolutionary line available only through the event.

The event content is tied to the system clock date, so players who miss the event window may be able to access it by adjusting the Switch 2's date settings. However, changing the system clock can affect other time-based mechanics like daily challenges and building timers, so use caution.

Mystery Gifts

Mystery Gifts are free items distributed to all players or to those with specific redemption codes. They are claimed through the Pokemon Center Terminal by selecting "Mystery Gifts" and then choosing "Get via Internet" or "Get with Code/Password."

Requirement: Players must progress far enough in the story to access the first Pokemon Center PC in the Withered Wasteland, which takes roughly 30 minutes to 1.5 hours of gameplay depending on pace. The Switch 2 must be connected to the internet, and the player's profile must be linked to a Nintendo Account.

Profile Icon Waves

Themed profile icons are being released in weekly waves via Mystery Gift. Each wave introduces new icons featuring Pokemon and characters from Pokopia:

The Ditto Rug is a decorative furniture item shaped like Ditto that can be placed in any house or as outdoor decoration.

Pokemon GO Crossover

The Pokemon GO Pokopia Celebration Event ran from March 10 to March 16, 2026 in Pokemon GO, coinciding with the More Spores for Hoppip event in Pokopia. The crossover featured costumed Ditto variants, increased wild encounters with Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pikachu, and Zorua, and three-star raids with Lapras, Snorlax, and Dragonite.

Post-Launch Content

The developers have indicated that additional content will be released through future updates, events, and Mystery Gifts. The More Spores for Hoppip event established the pattern: limited-time events introduce new Pokemon and exclusive furniture through collectible event items.

Players are encouraged to check the Pokemon Center Terminal regularly for new Mystery Gifts, daily challenges, and event announcements. The Stamp Rally system also rotates weekly, providing ongoing reasons to log in.

How to Check Your Version

To verify which version of Pokopia is currently installed:

1. Highlight Pokopia on the Switch 2 home screen.

2. Press the + button to open the game options.

3. Select "Software Update" to check for available updates.

4. The current version number is displayed on the game's information page.
