Overview

Hoothoot is a Normal/Flying-type Pokemon in Pokemon Pokopia, classified as the Owl Pokemon (Dex #048). Hoothoot is found in the Withered Wasteland at the Elevated Tall Grass habitat and is an exclusive nighttime spawn. It carries both the Fly and Trade specialties, making it a versatile addition to any island. Noctowl, its main-series evolution, shares the same habitat and specialties but appears at Rare rarity.

Habitat

Hoothoot primarily lives in the Elevated Tall Grass habitat (#006). This habitat requires tall grass placed on a high-up location:

Hoothoot also appears in the Pretty Flower Bed habitat (#008), which requires Wildflowers x4. Both habitats are in Withered Wasteland.

Nighttime-Only Spawn

Hoothoot is an exclusive nighttime spawn. It will only appear during the Night period (7:00 PM to 6:00 AM). Pokemon Pokopia uses a real-time day and night cycle synced to the Nintendo Switch 2's internal clock, so you need to play during real-world nighttime hours (or adjust your console clock) to encounter Hoothoot.

Location

Hoothoot appears in Withered Wasteland, the game's opening region. Building an Elevated Tall Grass habitat requires finding or constructing a raised platform. Place four patches of tall grass on top of an elevated surface to create the habitat, then wait until nighttime for Hoothoot to appear.

How to Befriend

Build the Elevated Tall Grass habitat on a high-up location in Withered Wasteland. Wait until Night (7:00 PM to 6:00 AM real-world time). Hoothoot will appear at the habitat during nighttime hours. Walk up and interact with Hoothoot to befriend it.

Specialties

Fly

Hoothoot has the Fly specialty. Fly allows fast-travel to a specific befriended Pokemon's current location within the same zone. Select a Fly-specialty Pokemon and choose "Fly" to be transported to any other befriended Pokemon in the current region. This is one of the most convenient movement options in the game for quickly reaching distant parts of a region.

Trade

Hoothoot also has the Trade specialty. Pokemon with Trade can operate shops and bartering stations at powered Cash Registers. Place Hoothoot near a Cash Register to set up a trading post where you can buy and sell items.

Tips

• If you cannot play at night, use the time traveling method by adjusting your Nintendo Switch 2's system clock to nighttime hours.

• Hoothoot's dual Fly and Trade specialties are a strong combination. Station one near a Cash Register for a shop, and keep another as a follower for Fly-based fast travel.

• Hoothoot prefers dark environments. Furnish its habitat with soft, fabric, and dim-lighting items to increase its Comfort Level.

• Hoothoot is a Common spawn, so it appears quickly once nighttime arrives. If you need the Rare Noctowl, you may need to check back on multiple nights.
