Dragonite is a Dragon/Flying-type Pokemon in Pokemon Pokopia. Found in the Sparkling Skylands, the game's fourth and final main region, Dragonite teaches Ditto the Glide transformation and carries two specialties: Fly and Water. It is a common spawn available at all times and in all weather conditions.
Dragonite lives in the Waterside Dinghy habitat. This habitat has unique placement requirements, as it must be located at a high elevation:
Item | Quantity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Canoe | 1 | Can be found or crafted |
Duckweed | 2 | Created by using powered-up Leafage near water (eat a Salad first) |
Water | 2 tiles | Must be placed on a high-up location |
High-Up Location | Required | The habitat must be elevated; ground-level placement will not work |
Building the Waterside Dinghy requires the powered-up Leafage move. Eat a Salad first, then use Leafage beside the canoe while standing in water to grow the duckweed. Without the Salad buff, Leafage cannot produce duckweed.
Dragonite appears in Sparkling Skylands, the game's final main region. This area is characterized by floating islands and elevated platforms, making it the perfect environment for the Waterside Dinghy's high-elevation requirement.
To befriend Dragonite, you must first befriend Froakie by restoring the Hydrated Pink Tall Grass habitat (place 4 pink tall grass near water). Then build the Waterside Dinghy habitat at a high-up location in Sparkling Skylands. After Dragonite spawns, speak to it.
Dragonite's request requires you to bring it five Alarm Clocks. Alarm Clocks must be crafted at a workbench using Iron Ore. Once you have crafted five, carry them back to Dragonite's habitat to complete the request and learn Glide.
Dragonite teaches Ditto the Glide transformation. Glide allows Ditto to take on Dragonite's form and soar downward from elevated positions. While gliding, you can cover large horizontal distances, making it the best way to travel between the floating islands of Sparkling Skylands and to descend safely from any high point in the game.
Dragonite has two specialties:
Specialty | Effect |
|---|---|
Fly | Enables navigation to other Pokemon when using the Pokedex; acts as a fast-travel assistant |
Water | Sprays water on nearby fields and plants when a basin is available; helps with crop irrigation |
Having both specialties makes Dragonite one of the most versatile Pokemon in the game, combining exploration utility with practical farming assistance.

Remember to eat a Salad before attempting to grow duckweed with Leafage. This is essential for building the Waterside Dinghy habitat.
Craft the five Alarm Clocks in advance using Iron Ore at a workbench. You can get Iron Ore by using a powered-up Rock Smash (eat a Hamburger Steak first).
Glide can be chained with Surf by jumping into water from height and transitioning smoothly into swimming.
Dragonite's dual Fly and Water specialties make it worth keeping near both your farm and your main base for maximum utility.
