Azurill is a Normal/Fairy-type Pokemon in Pokemon Pokopia, classified as the Polka Dot Pokemon (Dex #114). Its tail is packed full of the nutrients it needs to grow, and it can be seen bouncing around on that large, rubbery tail. Azurill is a Common visitor at two different habitats, making it one of the easier Pokemon to find. It carries the Water and Hype specialties. Azurill is the first stage in a family that also includes Marill and Azumarill.
Azurill can be found at two different habitats, both as a Common visitor.
This habitat features yellow tall grass resting by the water. It is described as "a nice spot for Pokemon after they're done swimming."
Item | Quantity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Yellow Tall Grass | 4 | Found naturally in marshy and grassy areas |
Water | 2 | Fresh water tiles placed adjacent to the grass |
Azurill appears as a Common visitor here. Other Pokemon at this habitat include Piplup (Common), Marill (Rare), and Prinplup (Rare).
A scattered collection of toys and cardboard. The description says: "Just when you think you're done tidying up, the mess somehow returns."
Item | Quantity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Cardboard Boxes | 1 | Crafted or found in towns |
Toy (any) | 1 | Any toy-type item works |
Azurill appears as a Common visitor here alongside Growlithe (Common).
Both of Azurill's habitats can be built on any island where the required items are available. The Hydrated Yellow Tall Grass habitat requires water tiles and yellow tall grass, which can be found in areas like Bleak Beach and other marshy regions. The Perpetual Mess habitat only needs a cardboard box and a toy, making it easy to set up almost anywhere.
To befriend Azurill, build either the Hydrated Yellow Tall Grass habitat or the Perpetual Mess habitat by placing the required items near each other. Since Azurill is a Common visitor at both habitats, it should appear fairly quickly. Walk up and interact with it to add Azurill to your island.
Azurill has two specialties:
Water: Azurill can interact with water-related items and environments, helping to manage water features on your island.
Hype: Azurill generates excitement and boosts the mood of nearby Pokemon and island activities.

Azurill is the first stage in a three-stage family. In the main Pokemon series, Azurill evolves into Marill through friendship, and Marill evolves into Azumarill at level 18. In Pokopia, there is no evolution mechanic, so each family member must be found at its own habitat independently. Azurill shares the Hydrated Yellow Tall Grass habitat with Marill, so building that habitat gives you a chance to find both.
The Perpetual Mess habitat is one of the simplest to build in the game, requiring only a cardboard box and any toy. This makes it a great early option for finding Azurill.
If you want to collect the whole family, build the Hydrated Yellow Tall Grass habitat first. Azurill (Common) and Marill (Rare) both appear there.
Azurill shares habitat preferences with other Water-loving Pokemon like Squirtle and Lapras. Decorating with water and cute items benefits them all.
