Revision 9

Overview

The School Bus Adventures DLC is downloadable content for Outbound that introduces a unique vehicle, the School Bus, along with dedicated missions and varied environments. The DLC is confirmed to be included free of charge with all physical editions of the game, both the Standard and Collector's editions.

Outbound's full release rolled out in two waves in May 2026, with the DLC bundled into every physical edition. Wave 1 (PC and Xbox Series X|S) launched on May 11, 2026 as digital-only; the May 14, 2026 console wave (PS5, Switch, Switch 2) carries the bundled DLC in its physical SKUs. The full content scope of the DLC has not been publicly enumerated. What is known comes from the storefront listings published by Square Glade Games. The DLC released alongside the base game on May 11, 2026 and sells for $2.99 standalone.

What is Included

Based on confirmed information, the School Bus Adventures DLC includes the following:

• The School Bus: a unique vehicle separate from the standard camper van. The School Bus has different characteristics, offering its own set of advantages and disadvantages compared to the camper van.

• Unique missions: the DLC features missions designed specifically around the School Bus and its capabilities.

• Varied environments: the DLC includes environments that may differ from or expand upon the base game's biomes.

The DLC released alongside the base game on May 11, 2026 and sells separately for $2.99. The studio has not published a breakdown of mission structure, environment count, or the full item list.

The School Bus

The School Bus is a distinct vehicle that differs from the standard camper van used throughout the base game. While the camper van is the player's all-purpose mobile home and transport, the School Bus offers a different driving experience with its own handling, capacity, and features. The specific differences in size, weight, speed, and interior layout have not been detailed yet, but the bus is described as having unique advantages and disadvantages that distinguish it from the van.

Published material does not spell out whether the School Bus can be used interchangeably with the camper van in the base game's open world, or whether it is restricted to the DLC's own missions and environments.

How to Access

For players who purchase a physical edition (Standard or Collector's), the DLC is included free of charge. A download voucher is bundled with the physical copy.

For digital purchasers, the DLC is likely to be available as a separate purchase, though pricing has not been announced. Check the game's store pages on supported platforms for the latest availability information closer to launch.

Availability

On Steam, the DLC is offered as a separate digital purchase that can be bought alongside the base game. A 10% launch discount runs on the base game and a 10% launch discount on the DLC, plus an additional 5% bundle discount when both are purchased together, all through May 25, 2026.
