Vehicles are a central feature of Neverness to Everness, matching the game's open-world urban setting in Hethereau. The city has a wide range of drivable vehicles including regular cars, muscle cars, supercars, motorcycles, and retro-style scooters. The official press release describes "numerous vehicle models for players to choose from, including regular cars, muscle cars, supercars, and motorbikes, with a high fidelity physics engine." The game's vehicle system draws heavy inspiration from open-world driving games, with realistic handling, weather-affected physics, and deep customization options.
The NTE database references at least 12 vehicle entries. The following vehicles have been identified from beta footage and trailers. Note that vehicles in NTE are inspired by real-world models but use fictional in-game names.

Vehicle (Real-World Inspiration) | Year | Type |
|---|---|---|
Toyota Sprinter Trueno (AE86) | 1985 | Sports car / coupe |
Nissan GT-R50 | 2021 | Supercar |
Porsche 911 Turbo | 1981 | Sports car |
Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet | 1986 | Convertible sports car |
Rover Mini Cooper | 1998 | Compact car |
Suzuki Jimny Sierra | 2019 | SUV / off-road |
Volkswagen Jetta | 1984 | Sedan |
Mitsubishi Minicab | 1985 | Kei truck / van |
Hino Poncho | - | Bus / commercial vehicle |
Original coupe design | - | Fictional vehicle (NTE original) |
The Containment Test introduced four new cars, one motorcycle, and one scooter. The Co-Ex Test beta further added new muscle cars, supercars, and bikes. An in-game brand called Surpass Motors (or "New Surpass Motors") supplies new car brands, retro-style scooters, and sport motorbikes. Additional vehicles are planned for post-launch updates.
Category | Description | Examples |
|---|---|---|
Regular Cars | Standard sedans and compact cars for everyday driving. | VW Jetta-type, Rover Mini-type |
Muscle Cars | High-power American-style vehicles with aggressive styling. | Added during Co-Ex Test |
Supercars | High-performance sports cars with top-tier speed and handling. | GT-R50-type, 911 Turbo-type |
Coupes | Two-door vehicles including both real-world inspired and original designs. | AE86-type, NTE original coupe |
Motorcycles | Sport bikes for fast, agile traversal through city streets. | Added during Containment Test |
Retro Scooters | Classic-style scooters from the Surpass Motors brand. | Added during Containment Test |
SUVs / Off-Road | Rugged vehicles suited for rougher terrain outside the city center. | Jimny Sierra-type |
Commercial Vehicles | Utility vehicles including vans, kei trucks, and buses. | Minicab-type, Hino Poncho-type |
Method | Description |
|---|---|
Dealership Purchase | Buy vehicles at a dealership in Hethereau using in-game currency. The dealership is accessible early in the game. |
Badge Requisition | With help from Mint and the BAC, flash your Anomaly Hunter badge to peacefully borrow any NPC's car on the street. No wanted stars are earned. |
Forceful Requisition | Attack an NPC and take their vehicle by force. This triggers the wanted system and may lead to the Detention Center. |
Collecting | Collect vehicles through gameplay activities, events, and progression rewards. |
Garages throughout Hethereau serve as both repair and customization facilities. The system is extensive, covering both visual modifications and performance tuning.
Paint jobs and color changes
Decals and custom graphics
Body kits for altered exterior styling
Bumpers and front/rear modifications
Spoilers and aerodynamic additions
Tires and wheels with different designs
Suspension tuning for ride height and handling characteristics
Chassis upgrades for improved structural integrity
Engine modifications for increased power output
Handling adjustments for tighter cornering
Weight modifications to balance speed and stability
NTE uses a high-fidelity physics engine where each vehicle has different handling characteristics. Environment Artist Giroud confirmed in an interview that "the game actually has driving mechanics which dynamically change with the weather. Each vehicle has different handling similar to how it is realistically."
Third-person driving (default view with an exterior camera following the vehicle)
First-person cockpit view (optional immersive perspective from inside the vehicle)
Feature | Description |
|---|---|
Weather Effects | Rain increases the risk of losing control, and snow makes handling trickier with increased sliding. Dynamic weather changes driving mechanics in real time. |
Drifting | Real-time drifting mechanics allow players to slide through corners. Featured prominently in racing activities. |
Vehicle Damage | Vehicles sustain visible damage during gameplay. Tires can be popped, glass is breakable, and vehicles can eventually explode. |
Driver Interactions | Honking, jumping out at full speed, having companion passengers with ride animations, and adjustable radio stations. |
Navigation | Set a destination on the map and glowing arrows lead you there while driving. |
Traffic AI | NPC traffic with varied vehicle types creates a realistic urban flow. Vehicles on streets are not just set dressing. |
Activity | Description |
|---|---|
Race against NPC street crews in different city districts or compete in multiplayer racing lobbies with friends. Drifting is a core racing feature. | |
Taxi Driving | Part of the Hethereau Hobbies gig economy content. Earn in-game currency through transportation services. |
Delivery Missions | Speed-based delivery quests that reward players for fast and careful driving. |
Bus Driving | Operate public buses along city routes. |
Train Driving | Drive trains across the city's rail network. |
Beyond personal vehicles, Hethereau has a full public transit system that players can use for traversal:
Train Network: An extensive rail system connecting different districts of the city.
Trams: Street-level public transit running through urban areas.
Buses: Public bus routes that players can ride or drive themselves.
Ghost Train: A supernatural fast-travel method tied to the game's anomaly lore. Allows players to zip across Anomaly zones to reach distant destinations quickly.
Vehicles complement a rich on-foot movement system powered by Esper abilities:
Standard running, sprinting, jumping, climbing, and swimming
Wall-running enabled by character Esper abilities
Parkour across buildings and rooftops
Anti-gravity gliding, such as Nanally's Esper ability which lets her float and glide over rooftops
A regenerating stamina bar governs special movements (except sprinting)
Seamless transitions between on-foot, parkour, swimming, and driving
Neverness to Everness launches on April 29, 2026. Vehicle information is based on the Containment Test and Co-Ex Test betas. Developers have confirmed that more vehicles, driving UI polish, improved car camera behavior, and refined handling are planned for launch and post-launch updates. In-game vehicle names may differ from the real-world inspirations listed above.
