Gameplay Overview

LumenTale: Memories of Trey is a monster collector RPG. The core loop has you exploring the world of Talea, catching creatures called Animon, building a battle team, and progressing the story. The sections below summarize the main systems and link out to dedicated pages.
The Core Loop
Explore an area and find wild Animon roaming the field.
Weaken or engage a creature and capture it with the Holoken using either Bilia mode or Animon mode.
Add it to your roster, then train and level it through battles.
Build a balanced team across the 13 elemental types and 5 emotional attributes.
Progress the story, take on tougher opponents, and unlock new regions.
Combat
Battles are turn-based. You can fight 1v1 duels or team up for 4v4 encounters. Your active Animon share an SP pool that pays for moves, and critical hits and weakness exploits build TP for extra actions. Each Animon has an elemental type and an emotional attribute, and matchups between them decide how much damage moves deal. Read the Combat System page for the full breakdown, and Type Effectiveness Explained and Attributes Explained for the type and attribute systems.
Collecting and Raising
Catching is handled through the Holoken capture system. Once a creature is yours, it can grow stronger, bond with you, and evolve. See Monster Taming and Bonding and Leveling and Progression for how creatures develop over time, and the All Evolutions Guide for evolution requirements.
Exploration

The world is explored on foot across the regions of Logos (north) and Mythos (south), with towns, wilds, and dungeons to discover. A day and night cycle, shifting weather, fast travel between Lumen Clubs, the Hoverboard, and Holoken Abilities tied to your team's types all shape how an area plays. See Exploration for details.
