The Church is one of the three most influential Churches in the Loen Kingdom alongside the Church of the Evernight Goddess and the Church of the God of Steam and Machinery.
The Lord of Storms is one of the major deities. The source material identifies the Lord of Storms as one of the gods who awoke at the end of the Second Epoch and helped humanity survive the Cataclysm during the Third Epoch alongside the Evernight Goddess, the Eternal Blazing Sun, the God of Knowledge and Wisdom, the God of Combat, and the Earth Mother.
The Lord of Storms's domain centres on storms, the sea, and direct moral authority. The Church's institutional culture emphasises militancy and decisive moral judgement, making it more outwardly assertive than some of the more contemplative orthodox Churches.
The Church's reach is strongest in coastal Loen, the southern maritime regions, and the Kingdom of Feneport. Backlund's docks district hosts the Church's primary cathedral in the capital.
The Church's Beyonder arm is the Mandated Punishers. The Mandated Punishers handle supernatural cases involving storms, the sea, and rogue Sequence-tier criminals whose crimes have an ocean or weather angle. They are also the second-most-prominent supernatural law enforcement body in Loen after the Nighthawks.
The Church appears in the player's campaign primarily through maritime quest lines and storm-themed encounters. Crossover cases with the Nighthawks occasionally route the player into Mandated Punishers contact, particularly during Tingen-arc story content involving smuggling rings or coastal anomalies. Full Church faction content is gated behind the Backlund Act 2 progression.
The Church of the Lord of Storms occupies a militant niche among the Seven Orthodox Churches. Where the Church of the Evernight Goddess leans contemplative and the Church of the God of Steam and Machinery leans industrial-administrative, the Storms Church operates as a moral-judgement enforcement body whose remit centres on storm-anomaly cases, maritime supernatural events, and direct retribution against rogue Sequence-tier criminals.
Its mandate flows from the deity's domain. The Lord of Storms commands tempest, sea, and assertive moral authority. In game terms, this means Storms-Church investigations are typically loud, fast, and weather-themed: cliff-side rituals interrupted by the church-aligned storm cavalry, ships boarded under cover of fog, and ritual-circle defacement carried out openly during named-storm events.
The Church's Beyonder arm is the Mandated Punishers, the second-most-prominent supernatural law-enforcement body in Loen after the Nighthawks. The Punishers field a smaller but more aggressive team than the Nighthawks. Their case load is biased toward maritime, coastal, and storm-themed crimes.

In the Crimson Test build, players encounter the Storms Church indirectly through cross-jurisdictional Tingen cases. The full faction reputation system unlocks during Backlund Act 2 progression, gated for later test rounds.

The Church of the Lord of Storms holds primary cathedrals in Backlund's docks district and in coastal cities along the Feneport route. Smaller chapels are scattered through the Loen mainland; the Tingen chapel is a fourth-tier presence and the local Punisher operation is auxiliary rather than a full station. By contrast, the Backlund cathedral hosts the church's primary Loen-region administrative apparatus and the country's largest training pool of Storms-tier Beyonders.
The Storms Church is one of the Seven Orthodox Churches recognised in Loen and the broader Northern Continent. Its relationship with the other Churches is generally cooperative on cross-jurisdictional cases (the Nighthawks invite Mandated Punishers when an anomaly turns weather-themed), but the Storms Church's blunter institutional culture creates friction with the contemplative Evernight Church and the bureaucratic Steam-and-Machinery Church when cases require diplomatic handling.
