Custom Furniture Creation is a set of tools in inZOI that lets players design, modify, and share their own furniture pieces. Available within Build Mode, these features go well beyond simple recoloring. Players can generate entirely new textures using AI, create 3D objects from reference images, customize materials on a per-surface basis, and upload finished creations to the Canvas for the community to download and use. Some creation options are gated behind the Housework skill, rewarding Zois who invest time in domestic activities.
The AI Texture feature is one of the standout creative tools in inZOI. When editing a piece of furniture in Build Mode, players can select any surface on the object and open the AI Texture panel. From there, they type a text description of the desired pattern, material, or artwork. The AI processes the prompt and generates a custom texture that wraps onto the selected surface.
For example, a player might select the cushion of a sofa and type "floral watercolor pattern in pastel tones" to generate a unique upholstery texture. The system supports a wide range of descriptions, from realistic materials ("weathered oak planks", "brushed stainless steel") to artistic styles ("Van Gogh starry night", "pixel art mosaic"). Each generation produces a different result, so players can regenerate until they find a texture they like.
AI-generated textures are saved to the furniture piece and persist across game sessions. They can also be applied to other compatible surfaces on the same or different objects, building up a personal texture library over time.
The 3D Printer is an AI-powered creation tool that generates three-dimensional objects from reference images. Players provide an image (uploaded from their computer or captured in-game), and the system creates a 3D model based on the visual input. The resulting object can then be placed in the world as a decorative item or functional furniture piece.
This feature opens up possibilities that go far beyond the standard furniture catalog. Players have used the 3D Printer to recreate real-world objects, custom artwork pieces, brand logos, and personal memorabilia. The quality of the output depends on the clarity and complexity of the input image; simple, well-lit photographs with clear outlines tend to produce the best results.
Every piece of furniture in Build Mode supports basic recoloring and material swaps. Selecting a furniture item opens the customization panel, which breaks the object down into its component surfaces (frame, cushion, legs, hardware, and so on). Each surface can be independently modified:
Color: Choose from a color wheel or enter a specific hex code to change the base color of any surface.
Material: Swap between material presets such as wood, metal, fabric, leather, glass, plastic, and stone. Each material has its own reflectivity and texture properties.
Finish: Adjust surface properties like glossiness, roughness, and metallic sheen to fine-tune the look.
Pattern: Apply built-in patterns (stripes, plaid, geometric) or use an AI-generated texture as described above.
Material changes are visual only and do not affect the functional properties of the furniture piece. A wooden bed frame recolored to look like metal still behaves identically in gameplay.
Finished custom furniture can be uploaded to the Canvas, inZOI's community sharing platform. Once uploaded, other players can browse, download, and place the creation in their own homes. Canvas listings include a thumbnail preview, the creator's name, and tags for discoverability.
Uploading to Canvas is free and unlimited. Downloaded items appear in the player's furniture catalog under a dedicated "Canvas Downloads" section. This system encourages a vibrant creative community where skilled builders share their work and casual players benefit from a constantly growing library of custom content.
Several advanced furniture creation features are tied to the Housework skill. As a Zoi's Housework skill level increases, new crafting and customization options unlock. At lower skill levels, players have access to basic recoloring and material swaps. Higher levels unlock more complex operations like multi-surface AI texturing, 3D Printer access, and advanced material blending.
This connection gives the Housework skill practical creative value beyond its role in household chores. Zois who regularly clean, cook, and maintain their homes gradually become better furniture makers as well, providing a satisfying progression loop for players who enjoy the domestic side of the game.
When placing furniture in Build Mode, items normally snap to the grid for easy alignment. However, players who want more precise control can hold the Alt key to bypass grid constraints entirely. This enables free-form positioning, allowing furniture to be placed at any angle and at any position within the lot. The Alt bypass is especially useful for creating naturalistic arrangements, angled furniture groupings, and tight-fit placements that the grid would not normally allow.
Players can also adjust the vertical position of objects (raising or lowering them) and rotate freely in increments smaller than the default grid rotation. These fine-tuning options, combined with custom textures and materials, give dedicated builders an impressive degree of control over their interior design.
Keep AI Texture prompts descriptive but concise. Two or three specific adjectives produce better results than long, complex sentences.
For the 3D Printer, use images with a white or plain background. Busy backgrounds confuse the model generation.
Hold Alt while placing any furniture piece to escape the grid. This works for standard catalog items too, not just custom creations.
Upload your best creations to Canvas early. Popular items gain visibility and community ratings over time.
Level up Housework to unlock the full range of creation tools. Cooking and cleaning both contribute to skill progress.
