Initial article covering cafe business setup, Coffee Craft skill connection, equipment (coffee machines, countertops, seating), beverage menu, business leveling, and tips
The Cafe is one of the business types available in inZOI, introduced in the v0.5.0 update (December 2025). Cafes are built around the Coffee Craft skill and serve coffee drinks, teas, and light snacks to customers. The relaxed atmosphere of a cafe makes it a popular community gathering spot, and a well-run cafe can generate steady Meow income.
Opening a cafe involves the following steps:
Purchase an available business lot
Select the Cafe business type from the presets
Install equipment: coffee machines, espresso makers, countertops, and a register area
Create a comfortable seating area with tables, chairs, sofas, or outdoor seating
Stock ingredients for the beverage and snack menu
Hire NPC employees and set operating hours
The cafe's atmosphere plays a significant role in attracting customers. Cozy decor, warm lighting, and comfortable furniture encourage Zois to stay longer and order more.
The Coffee Craft skill determines what beverages the owner Zoi can prepare and the quality of those drinks. Lower skill levels produce basic drip coffee and simple teas, while higher levels unlock complex espresso drinks, specialty lattes, seasonal beverages, and artisan blends.
Customers are willing to pay more for higher-quality drinks. A cafe owner with a maxed-out Coffee Craft skill can offer premium beverages that command top prices and generate excellent reviews.
Cafes primarily serve beverages, but light food items can also be offered:
Coffee drinks: Drip coffee, espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, and specialty blends
Teas: Hot and iced tea varieties
Light snacks: Pastries, sandwiches, and small bites (some may require Baking or Cooking skill)
The exact menu offerings expand as the owner's skill levels increase. Cross-training in Baking or Cooking allows the cafe to offer a wider food selection alongside beverages.
Cafes tend to have steady foot traffic throughout the day. Revenue comes from individual beverage and food sales. Key revenue factors include:
Drink quality: Higher Coffee Craft skill means better drinks and higher prices
Seating capacity: More seating means more customers can visit simultaneously
Location and ambiance: Attractive decor and a pleasant environment encourage repeat visits
Service speed: Quick preparation and friendly service keep customers satisfied
NPC employees can assist with taking orders, cleaning tables, and handling the register. The owner typically handles specialty drink preparation, especially for complex orders that require high Coffee Craft skill levels. As the business grows, training employees to handle more tasks frees the owner for management duties.
Invest in high-quality coffee machines early. Better equipment produces better drinks, even at lower skill levels.
Create an inviting atmosphere with comfortable seating and good lighting. Ambiance matters more for cafes than most other business types.
Offer both hot and cold beverage options to appeal to customers regardless of season.
Consider adding a few baked goods to the menu if you have the Baking skill. Food sales supplement beverage revenue nicely.
Keep the cafe clean and well-maintained. Messy tables and dirty floors drive customers away fast.
