Baking

Initial version
Baking is a skill in inZOI that was introduced in the December 2025 update (v0.5.0) alongside the business management system and drink mixing. It allows Zois to fire up the oven and bake a variety of desserts, from cookies and cakes to other pastries. Baking is a separate skill from Cooking — while Cooking covers stovetop meals and recipes made through the refrigerator, Baking specifically focuses on oven-based goods.
The Baking skill is closely tied to the new business system, as players can open their own bakery, stock display cases with freshly baked goods, and sell to customers who visit during business hours. Combined with Coffee Craft and Cooking, Baking enables Zois to run fully stocked cafes and bakeries as a primary source of income.
To begin developing the Baking skill, a Zoi needs access to an oven in their home or business lot. The basic steps are:
Purchase and place an oven through Build Mode. Ovens are found in the kitchen appliances section of the furniture catalog.
Interact with the oven and select the baking option to open the recipe panel.
Choose a recipe from the available list. Recipes that are locked require a higher Baking skill level.
The Zoi will prepare and bake the item. Successful completions award Baking skill experience.
Unlike Cooking, which is initiated through the refrigerator, Baking is performed directly at the oven. Some recipes also require a countertop to be present in the room for preparation steps.
The following kitchen items are relevant to the Baking skill:
Oven — the primary appliance required for all baking recipes. Multiple oven styles are available in Build Mode at different price points.
Countertop — needed for dough preparation and recipe assembly before items go into the oven.
Refrigerator — stores ingredients. While not directly used for baking, certain recipes require ingredients that must be kept in the fridge.
Ensure that the kitchen has enough space for all three items. A poorly laid out kitchen can cause pathing issues where the Zoi gets stuck trying to navigate between appliances, wasting valuable time.
Like other skills in inZOI, Baking progresses through levels 1 through 10. Each level unlocks new recipes and improves the quality of baked goods produced. Higher-quality items sell for more Meow when placed in a business.
Levels 1–2: Basic recipes like simple cookies and bread. Quality is generally low to average. Good for practice.
Levels 3–4: Intermediate pastries and cakes become available. Quality consistency improves.
Levels 5–6: Advanced desserts unlock. Baked goods regularly achieve high quality.
Levels 7–8: Specialty and elaborate recipes become available. Items sell for premium prices.
Levels 9–10: Mastery level. All recipes are unlocked and quality is consistently excellent.
The fastest way to level Baking is to bake repeatedly. Each successful completion provides skill experience regardless of the recipe chosen. However, more complex recipes at higher levels provide slightly more experience per attempt.
Prior to the December 2025 update, the few oven-based recipes in the game (Birthday Cake, Cake, and Pizza) were part of the Cooking skill and required countertops and ovens to prepare. The v0.5.0 update introduced Baking as its own skill with a dedicated set of dessert recipes ranging from cookies to elaborate cakes.
Baking recipes cover a range of categories:
Cookies — quick to bake, low ingredient cost, good for early skill gains
Bread — staple items with moderate baking time
Cakes — more complex recipes that require higher skill levels and produce high-value items
Pastries and desserts — specialty items that unlock at higher levels and command premium prices in businesses
Each recipe has an associated Meow cost for ingredients. Higher-tier recipes cost more to produce but sell for significantly more, resulting in better profit margins at advanced skill levels.
The quality of baked goods depends on several factors:
Baking skill level — higher levels produce better-quality goods more consistently
Zoi's emotional state — a Zoi in a positive mood bakes better than one who is stressed or exhausted
Needs satisfaction — hunger, energy, and other needs affect performance
Quality directly impacts the selling price of baked goods when stocked in a bakery or cafe business. A high-quality cake commands a significantly higher price than an average-quality one made from the same recipe.
The Baking skill is designed to integrate with the business system introduced in the same December 2025 update. Here is how to set up a bakery:
Purchase a business property through the Edit City window in the game menu.
Register the business using the Business App on the Zoi's smartphone.
Select the Bakery preset from the Business Type tab. This automatically configures the lot with appropriate settings for a bakery operation, including customer activities and display case placement.
Set business hours through the Business Settings menu. Choose the days and times your bakery will be open.
Select recipes in the Business Settings Recipe tab. These determine which baked goods your Zoi will prepare for sale.
Stock the display cases by interacting with the refrigerator and selecting Fill Baking. Your Zoi will bake items according to the selected recipes and place them in display cases around the store.
Customers automatically visit the business during open hours. They browse the display cases, pick up items, and pay at the counter. Customer satisfaction depends on furniture quality, pricing, product quality, and employee responsiveness.
A well-run bakery combined with a cafe component (adding Coffee Craft products) can generate strong daily profits. Community reports suggest that a bakery-cafe stocking high-quality items can earn 4,000–5,000 Meow in net daily profit once fully optimized. Key profitability tips:
Focus on high-level recipes that sell for more per unit. The expensive baked goods unlocked at higher Baking levels have much better margins.
Prepare group-sized batches rather than single servings whenever possible.
Set reasonable prices. Overpricing drives customers away, while underpricing leaves money on the table. Start with the default pricing and adjust based on daily review feedback.
Combine baked goods with coffee to increase average transaction value.
Hire employees once the business is established to keep the shop stocked and running even when the Zoi is away.
While both skills involve food preparation, they serve different purposes:
Cooking uses the refrigerator and stovetop or induction cooktop. It produces meals that satisfy hunger. Recipes include pancakes, pasta, steak, curry, and other main courses.
Baking uses the oven. It produces desserts and pastries that can be eaten or sold in a business. Recipes focus on sweet items like cookies, cakes, and bread.
A Zoi who develops both Cooking and Baking can operate a restaurant or cafe that serves a full menu — savory main courses from Cooking, baked desserts from Baking, and beverages from Coffee Craft. This combination provides the most versatile and profitable business setup available in the game.
Level Baking alongside Cooking and Coffee Craft to unlock the maximum business potential.
Keep your Zoi well-rested and in a positive mood before extended baking sessions to produce consistently high-quality goods.
Place the oven and countertop close together in your kitchen layout to minimize the Zoi's travel time between preparation and baking steps.
If running a bakery, use the Fill Baking command on the refrigerator to batch-produce items for display cases efficiently.
Watch for the Cooking channel on TV — while primarily aimed at the Cooking skill, it provides passive experience for food-related activities.
A single household can own multiple businesses, so consider opening both a bakery and a cafe on separate lots for diversified income.
