Jixia Chapter 3: Shining Stars (闪耀的星辰) is the third main-story chapter of the Jixia Academy arc in Honor of Kings: World. It follows the Jixia Interlude (稷下幕间) and centers on the player and Dongfang Yao traveling from Jixia Academy to Frost Cloud Town (霜云镇), investigating a wave of monster attacks across the Cloud Fall Plateau, and confronting the great demon Cloud Shapeshifter (云狌), which shares a history with Yao's family. The chapter ends with Dongfang Yao awakening his starlight power and becoming available as a playable Resonance.
Shining Stars is the longest of the early Jixia chapters and is built around five linked quests. The chapter gates player progression behind the first Wave Flow Realm breakthrough, which raises the level cap above 10 and unlocks improved world monster rewards. The chapter introduces fishing, a large overworld zone around the Cloud Fall Plateau (云落高地), and Dongfang Yao's combat moveset, which the player controls directly during the final boss sequence.
The player takes this chapter after completing the Jixia Interlude: Supreme Academy (稷下幕间 最高学堂), which ends with the Gameplay Handbook unlock. walkthrough notes that players typically need to reach level 11 before Shining Stars becomes fully playable, which is the bottleneck that the Wave Flow Realm breakthrough quest is designed to clear.

Before Shining Stars opens, the game prompts the first Wave Flow Realm (波流境界) breakthrough. Clearing it unlocks a new progression system, raises the level cap, and increases rewards from defeating overworld monsters. Every subsequent 10 player levels triggers another breakthrough fight of the same pattern.
The breakthrough boss is Panjing Heavy Fence (盘荆重篱)a slow, heavy construct that fights mainly by swinging its arms. Smaller enemies will spawn around the arena and interrupt your combos if left alone. When the boss drops to low health, its arms begin firing cannons, adding a ranged pressure that can punish dodges in the wrong direction. Pair a ranged support Resonance like Xi Shi or Sun Bin with a burst attacker like the Child of the Primal Flow so you can handle both the boss and adds.
After the breakthrough, report back at the Jixia Academy Scholar Square (进学广场). Speak with Dongfang Yao to trigger the cutscene that starts the Frost Cloud Journey. Open the main map and set a waypoint on the nearest Ferry Stone (渡石) teleport toward Frost Cloud Town (霜云镇), activating any unvisited stones you pass for quicker returns later.
Inside Frost Cloud Town, follow Dongfang Yao into his family home and interact with the three highlighted objects to complete the search. Yao then leads the player to a waterfall on the town's outskirts, where you walk through the cascade into a hidden cave. Press the grapple key (F) to hook to the marked anchor points, interact with the target twice, and then fight the enemy waves that ambush the cavern.
The waves are low-difficulty trash mobs. Xi Shi's crowd-pull skill groups them for a quick clear, and the last wave's spear-armed enemies have low poise, so the Child of the Primal Flow's basic combo can stagger them without giving them time to recover. Stamina chests are scattered around the cave; opening them is optional and does not gate main story progress.
On the return trip, a side quest prompts the player to speak with Zhou You (周游)who sits on a chair fishing near the bridge outside of town. He runs the game's fishing tutorial.
Hold the number key 4 to bring up the fishing rod, aim the cast at any water surface, and wait for the bite prompt before pulling the line back. Completing the tutorial catch closes the quest and adds fishing to the player's available overworld activities.
Travel to Red Falcon Hall (赤隼馆). Activate the Ferry Stone right outside the hall before entering, since the quest chain ends with a boss that can be reset from this stone if you wipe. Speak with Dongfang Yao and the hall master Fengyu (枫羽) to unlock the three investigation points on the Cloud Fall Plateau.

With all three cleared, teleport back to the Red Falcon Hall Ferry Stone and move toward Cloud Mirror Pass (云镜隘口), where Dongfang Yao is waiting. Approaching the marker starts the boss fight against Frenzied Scorched Fur.
The final quest takes the player into Hidden Cloud Valley (藏云谷) for a three-phase fight against the great demon Cloud Shapeshifter (云狌). Narrative context from Chinese coverage describes this encounter as a dreamlike mirror fight where Dongfang Yao, who has only recently awakened his starlight power, has to confront a projection of his own self before he can master the ability. Completing the fight unlocks Yao's Resonance, which is the primary reward of the chapter.
The sequence is split across three linked health bars with two boss swaps in between, so keep your Wave Flow and healing resources topped up before entering.
Chapter 3 features three named boss battles. Shining Stars is the first main-story chapter where multi-phase fights are mandatory, so prior practice in the boss encounters training arenas is helpful.
The Wave Flow Realm breakthrough opponent. Panjing is slow and telegraphs its arm swings clearly, but the accompanying small enemies can strip your stamina fast if you try to tank them. Kite the adds with ranged skills, then burst Panjing during the windup of its double-arm smash. When its health drops under roughly a quarter, its arm cannons begin firing a spread of projectiles. Strafe at a 45-degree angle to the main body to avoid both the cannons and the sweep arc.
A fast, fire-themed beast boss fought with Dongfang Yao as a combat ally. Its early moves are a mix of pouncing charges and sweeping tail attacks. When its health drops, it casts a shield around itself, and you need to break the shield bar completely before damage against its health bar resumes. While the shield is active, it adds a new breath attack: the boss jumps to one edge of the arena, rears up with its tail, and sprays fire from side to side. Dodge along the direction of the sweep rather than through it.
It also gains a bounding charge that crosses the arena. Because Dongfang Yao stays in the fight as an AI ally throughout, the boss can switch targets, which gives the player short windows to heal or reposition. Use these windows rather than forcing damage into an unfavorable trade.
The finale of Star Awakening is structured in three phases.
Phase 1: Cloud Shapeshifter. The first health bar relies on a fan weapon. The boss whips out a chain of ranged fan slashes that curve outward; run along the arc or chain perfect dodges to close the gap. After the fan combo it lines up a straight-line fire breath with long wind-up, which is easy to sidestep and leaves the boss open for a counter. Its jumping red-light kick is fast but short-range, so unless you can line up a perfect dodge, simply back off to avoid it. At roughly 50% health the camera pulls in and the boss enters a frenzy state, adding fire to every fan slash along with orbiting fan phantoms, an airborne fire spray, and a corner-to-corner pounce.
Phase 2: Dark Yao Phantom (暗曜幻形). Control switches to Dongfang Yao, and the boss is now a shadow clone of Yao himself. The clone uses a sped-up version of Yao's moveset, and the phase is scripted to end after enough time has passed, so survival is more important than damage. The clone has low poise and will be launched easily, but it recovers quickly from knockdowns and chains into a counter, so do not overcommit to long combos.
Phase 3: Divine Pattern Cloud Shapeshifter (神纹云狌). Still controlling Yao, the player fights an enhanced Cloud Shapeshifter. It keeps the phase 1 toolkit and adds three new patterns: a tail sweep that wraps around a log and slams the ground in a wide AOE, a high knee-lift stomp that produces an expanding shockwave with a deliberately long pause before it lands to throw off dodge timing, and a two-part dash that zips from one arena corner to the other and back, followed by an airborne spin strike into a ground pound. Under a certain health threshold the camera pulls in for a broad tail-sweep attack: this is the cue to dodge at the last moment, since it covers most of the floor.

Dongfang Yao Resonance unlock. The full kit becomes playable, including his fan-based combo tree and his starlight-powered ultimate.
Level cap raised. The first Wave Flow Realm breakthrough lifts the player level cap above 10 and scales up overworld monster drops.
New region access. Ferry Stone points unlocked across Frost Cloud Town, Red Falcon Hall, the Cloud Fall Plateau, and Hidden Cloud Valley remain usable for future chapters and side activities.
Fishing unlocked. The Way of the Angler quest opens the fishing system across the open world.
Story progression toward Jixia Chapter 4, which picks up the thread of Dongfang Yao's family history left open at the end of Shining Stars.
Hit level 11 first. If the Shining Stars marker greys out, the cause is usually the level gate inherited from the Jixia Interlude. Clear daily 朝闻道 (Daily Dao) objectives and Novice Journey (新手历程) rewards to close the gap, then come back.
Activate every Ferry Stone along the way. Red Falcon Hall, East Cloud Fall Plateau, the Hidden Cloud Valley, and the Guiling Ferry Stone all return as fast-travel anchors later. Tapping them on first approach saves long walks for any repeat attempts.
Bring a ranged Resonance to Frenzied Scorched Fur. Xi Shi or Master Lu Ban can chip the shield from safe range while the boss focuses on Dongfang Yao, and Meng Ya offers a strong burst window once the shield breaks.
Save perfect dodges for the frenzy state. Phase 1 of Cloud Shapeshifter is punishing with flat dodges because every fan slash hits twice in frenzy, but timing a perfect dodge grants the enhanced counter that removes the follow-up strike entirely.
Do not rush phase 2. The Dark Yao Phantom fight is a story-timer encounter. Playing defensively with Yao's evasive dash is enough to run out the timer safely, which saves your Wave Flow bar for phase 3.
Watch the delayed stomps in phase 3. The Divine Pattern Cloud Shapeshifter adds a deliberately long pause between the knee-lift and the stomp. Dodging on the animation start is a mistake: wait for the foot to drop before rolling.
