Side Quests

Linked quest routes and dungeon puzzle solutions
Alongside its main scenario, Final Fantasy Resonance carries a slate of optional quests. The director put the count at around 30 to 40, depending on how they are tallied, and most of them are character stories.
Side quests are all-new scenarios written for this game rather than content carried over. They spotlight Rain and the other main characters as well as the supporting cast drawn from the source game; see Relationship with Final Fantasy Brave Exvius for how the rebuild treats that material. Many of the episodes fill in pasts and relationships among the cast. The director described the majority as character-focused, and the producer added that puzzle-style quests and minigames round out the variety.
The game's public Steam achievement list includes Conscience Renewed, earned by clearing all party member substories.
Completing a side quest grants rewards tied to the featured character. Side quests also gate real power: some Visions are earned by clearing sub-quests that open up as the story progresses, and espers, the game's summons, are unlocked through story progress and side quests as well. Quests also feed Vision Awakening: an official Japanese system video published on September 28, 2026 lists quest rewards among the ways to collect magicite, without specifying which quests.
Optional content extends past quests into a dedicated endgame layer with the wandering swordmaster Gilgamesh, a Colosseum, and more; see Side Content and Endgame. Developer playtime estimates bracket the difference: 30 to 40 hours covers the main scenario, while engaging broadly with the optional layer pushes a run to 60 to 80 hours.
Three optional quest lines were confirmed on July 16, 2026.
Line | What It Involves | Reward |
|---|---|---|
Tablet shards | Collecting shards strewn about the world. | Items, scaling with how many you have gathered. |
Mechabo upgrades | Special subquests tied to Lid's mechanical chocobo. | New skills for Mechabo, and a stronger partner in battle. |
Adamantite gathering | Finding adamantite in treasure chests inside dangerous crypts, and as side-content rewards. | Aileen forges powerful weapons for the party from it. |
The Mechabo line is notable because it attaches a party member's combat growth to optional content: Square Enix's wording is that completing the subquests unlocks new skills and helps it grow stronger. Espers are also unlocked partly through side quests, so optional content feeds several systems at once.
The early quests below are a partial listing, not a full quest count. The estimate of around 30 to 40 remains the director's description of the overall slate. The free demo released on September 3, 2026 covers the opening through the end of Chapter 1 under level caps, so it shows only the start of that slate. Clearing a minigame pays out items, and the individual minigames are covered at Minigames.

For Rear Support, Ahoy!, speak with the chocobo coachman Zile in Grandport, defeat four humantraps nearby, and return with their extracts. These rewards support Vision Awakening after that system becomes available.
