Melee combat is the heart of Fatekeeper. Swings carry weight; follow-through is intentional and the camera shakes with each blow. The Druid can equip two interchangeable weapon sets at the same time and swap between them on demand, which lets one build cover several melee ranges and damage types without respeccing.

Heavy chopper. | Higher single-hit damage, slower recovery.
Blunt force. | Key for the | Shatter build
Two-handed blunt. | Stagger-heavy. Pairs with ice-magic freezes for guaranteed Shatter.
Light blunt. | Faster blunt-weapon option for early Shatter setups.
Fast skirmisher. | Leaping-dash attacks; throwable as a boomerang via skill-tree node.
Long reach. | Polearm range in two-handed style.
Heavy commit. | Big swings, large damage, slow recovery.
Spell focus and reach. | Visible in spell-caster trailer footage; channels storm-caller-style ranged spells. |
Each melee weapon has a felt sense of mass. Heavy weapons commit the player to longer recovery animations. Lighter weapons string into faster combos but trade per-hit damage. Hits that connect produce a satisfying impact pause, and hits that whiff visibly do so, which the team describes as deliberate: the player should feel the difference between a clean strike and a missed swing.
Two weapon sets sit in the loadout at the same time. Swapping is fast and intended to be used mid-fight, not just between rooms. A common pairing is a long-reach halberd or two-handed weapon for opening big swings against single targets, with a faster sword-and-dagger or staff combo on the second slot for crowds or kiting. Players can also equip one melee set and one spell-focused staff.

Melee combat often connects with magic. Freeze an enemy with ice magic and crush them with a hammer to trigger Shatter. Coat a sword in fire vial and combo into a pyromancer cast. Force-throw a foe into spike traps. The skill tree rewards mixing tools rather than committing to a single damage source.
