Complete rewrite from stub: added full location details, step-by-step finding guide, Swift and Ascent blueprint details, sanctum quests, and tips
Barry (also known as Bari), the Witch of Kindness, is one of five witches in Crimson Desert. She is the first witch that requires players to go off the beaten path to find, as she is not part of any main quest line. Barry is particularly valuable for her Swift blueprint, which increases attack speed so dramatically that a fully upgraded level 3 version makes two-handed greatsword attacks feel as fast as swinging a rapier.

Barry's hidden form is a woman shivering and freezing under a tarp near Silverwolf Mine. The mine is located southeast of Waywood Woods and north of Hernand. Unlike Elo who is found through the main quest, Barry requires you to explore on your own. No quest or NPC points you in her direction.
Travel north of Hernand toward the Silverwolf Mine area, southeast of Waywood Woods.
Look for a woman huddled under a tarp. She is clearly shivering and freezing from the cold.
Find the brazier next to her and light it. The warmth reveals her true identity as Barry, the Witch of Kindness.
Barry's true home is located to the north, in the middle of a lake just south of Silverwolf Mountain.
Travel to the lake to find her cabin and access her full services.
Important: Bring a coat or cold-resistant gear. The area around Silverwolf Mountain and her lake cabin is extremely cold, and you will take environmental damage without proper protection.
Barry provides the full range of witch services:
Embed Abyss Gears into equipment sockets
Extract Abyss Gears from equipped items
Create and unlock Abyss Core sockets on equipment
Crafting Abyss Gears using recipes (synthesis)
Buying and selling equipment and items
Selling unique speed and mobility blueprints
Barry's blueprints focus on speed and mobility, making them excellent for aggressive melee playstyles and exploration.
Blueprint | Effect | Equippable On | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|---|
Swift | Increases attack speed | At level 3, makes two-handed greatsword attacks feel as fast as a rapier. One of the most impactful combat blueprints in the game. | |
Ascent | Increases climb speed | Significantly speeds up cliff climbing and vertical traversal. Saves substantial time during exploration. |
Both blueprints follow the standard synthesis upgrade path. Combine two level 1 Abyss Gears of the same type to create level 2, and two level 2 to create level 3. The level 3 Swift blueprint in particular is a game-changer for melee builds. Slow, heavy weapons that normally feel sluggish become fast and responsive, dramatically increasing your DPS.
In addition to blueprints, Barry sells several useful accessories:
Item | Type | Effect |
|---|---|---|
Ancient Shell Ring | Accessory | Stamina regen +2%, attack speed boost, attack boost. Considered one of the best rings in the game. |
Consumable | Used to invest in skill nodes on the skill tree | |
Faded Abyss Artifact | Consumable | Skill reset resource for respeccing invested points |
After meeting Barry, four sanctums become available across the Pailune and Hernand regions. Each sanctum requires defeating Antumbra forces and solving a puzzle to restore the sanctum's generator.
Sanctum | Location | Notable Feature |
|---|---|---|
Pailune, east of Silver Wolf Mountain | Ice wall requiring Pickaxe; water drainage puzzle | |
Pailune, north of the Ancient Rift | Antumbra's Staff boss fight | |
Hernand, east of Stormtalon Ridge | Collapsible roof; Kuku Pot transport required | |
Hernand, adjacent to Haunted Hill | Flying enemies; both components sealed in Kuku Pot |
Completing all four of Barry's sanctums rewards you with a Witch's Token. This token, combined with tokens from Elo, Lyselia, and the Witch of Strength, unlocks the door to the White Crow in the Wayward Woods.
Barry can be found at the very beginning of the game if you travel north of Hernand early. No quest triggers are needed; just find her and light the brazier.
The Swift blueprint is one of the most impactful purchases you can make. Prioritize buying it as soon as you find Barry.
The Ancient Shell Ring from her shop is one of the best accessories in the game. Pick it up early for a permanent stat boost.
Pair Barry's Swift (attack speed) with the Witch of Strength's Destruction (raw damage) on your weapon for one of the strongest offensive setups available.
The area around Silverwolf Mountain is cold. Make sure you have cold protection before attempting to reach her lake cabin, or you will lose health rapidly.
