The Most Vicious Desert Tribe
The Helms are called out specifically as the most vicious tribe in the Crimson Desert. They operate as a bandit group that, unlike the other hostile desert factions, is willing to strike even against Demeniss caravans. Their workshops turn stolen supplies and technology into massive war machines. Their home base is the settlement of Helmara, whose workshop and sandcrawler production lines are the centerpiece of the faction quest Flame of Helmara.
In combat, the Helms overlap with the desert tank boss Desert Marauder Rusten, who is a recurring field boss used by desert raiders to escort supply lines. Completing Flame of Helmara involves destroying the Helms' Helmara workshop, cutting off the bandits' war-machine output.

Reputation and Rewards
Hostile factions sit below Neutral in the game's five-tier reputation ladder, which runs War, Hostile, Neutral, Friendly, and Alliance. Groups at War or Hostile attack on sight and impose reputation penalties for entering their territory, which means the usual way to interact with this faction is through combat, bounty hunting, and the clear-the-stronghold style of faction quest. Reputation can still shift if the player completes specific story objectives that strike at the faction's leadership or disrupt their operations.
Faction System Notes
Crimson Desert tracks approximately 110 factions in total across the continent of Pywel, split across four classification types: Core, Hostile, Religious, and Other. Contribution XP from completing faction quests feeds into standing with the issuing faction and, in several regions, into a shared regional reputation such as Demenissian Contribution or Pailunese Contribution. Progress is tracked on the reputation panel in the player menu, and reaching Alliance with a faction typically unlocks a named reward set that can include armor, weapons, mounts, or cosmetics such as the Pirate King Hat earned through Vellua Fishermen's Guild content.
