The Pointy-Eared Bulldog is a dog breed that can be registered as a pet in Crimson Desert. This compact, muscular dog is recognizable by its upright, pointed ears and stocky build. Like all pets, the Pointy-Eared Bulldog can be found roaming settlements across Pywel, particularly in larger cities. These animals appear in different locations depending on the time of day.
The Pointy-Eared Bulldog has a broad chest, short snout, and distinctive upright ears that give it an alert, watchful expression. Its muscular frame and compact build make it easy to distinguish from the Floppy-Eared variety.
The Pointy-Eared Bulldog comes in nine distinct coat variants. Each variant is a separate animal found at different locations throughout Pywel. All variants share the same stats and behavior; the only difference is their appearance. Registering all variants counts toward the 30-pet Life Challenge goal and the Natural Collector trophy.
The Pointy-Eared Bulldog can wear pet-specific equipment to boost its defensive stats and reduce the chance of injury during combat. Equipment is divided into two slots: a Helm slot and an Outfit slot. The following gear is available for this breed.
Equipment | Slot | Description |
|---|---|---|
Rescue Puppy Outfit | Pet Outfit | A basic outfit that provides light protection for the Pointy-Eared Bulldog. |
Puppy Plate Helm | Pet Helm | A sturdy plate helmet that offers solid head protection. |
Puppy Plate Armor | Pet Outfit | Heavy plate armor that significantly increases the pet's defense. |
Puppy Cloth Hat | Pet Helm | A lightweight cloth hat that provides minimal but useful protection. |
Puppy Cloth Outfit | Pet Outfit | A cloth outfit offering light defense, suitable for general exploration. |
Pet equipment can be purchased from shops in Pororin Forest Village and Demeniss. Higher-tier gear can also be crafted or found as loot in dungeons.
To register a Pointy-Eared Bulldog as your companion, you must reach 100 trust with the animal. Trust is built through two main interactions: petting and feeding. There is a daily cap on trust gained from each method.
Petting grants +5 trust per interaction, up to 5 times per in-game day (25 trust maximum from petting alone). At that rate, taming through petting alone would take a minimum of 4 in-game days.
Feeding allows up to 3 feeds per in-game day. To feed the Pointy-Eared Bulldog, open your Inventory, select a food item, and choose "Take Out" to place it on the ground near the animal. The dog will approach and eat it, gaining trust based on the food quality.
The Pointy-Eared Bulldog's favorite food is Egg, which grants the highest trust per feeding. Below is a summary of the key trust item categories and their values.
Item | Trust | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Egg | +35 | Favorite food. Grants the most trust per feeding. |
Small Bone | +25 | Obtained from hunting animals or purchased from shops. |
Large Bone | +25 | Dropped by larger creatures. Same trust value as Small Bone. |
Field Iron Griddle dishes | +20 | Cooked dishes made on a Field Iron Griddle (Grilled Meat, Grilled Fish, Smoked Eggs, Meat Skewers, etc.). |
Field Cooking Pot dishes | +20 | Soup and stew dishes made in a Field Cooking Pot (Clear Soup, Meat Soup, Braised Ribs, Steamed Eggs, etc.). |
Raw ingredients | +10 | Meat, Bird Meat, Fruit, Vegetable, and Dairy products. Cheapest option but lowest trust gain. |
Using the favorite food (Egg) with all three daily feeds grants +105 trust, meaning you can tame a Pointy-Eared Bulldog in a single in-game day when combined with 5 pettings (+25). Raw ingredients at +10 each require more days to hit the 100 trust threshold.
Once trust reaches 100, set the animal down and hold Square (PlayStation) or E (PC) to select the "Take in" prompt. The animal is then permanently registered as your pet. For a full breakdown of trust values and feeding costs, see the main Pets article or the Pet Taming Guide.
A dog companion can sometimes be acquired during city festivities tied to the main quest. The Fang Without a Master faction quest also features pet acquisition. Dogs like the Pointy-Eared Bulldog are among the first pets players encounter in the early areas of the game.
Once registered, the Pointy-Eared Bulldog follows you while exploring Pywel. Pets assist in combat by automatically looting items from defeated enemies, saving time during extended fights and dungeon runs. Your pet is a permanent companion and will stay by your side throughout the game. Only one pet can be active at a time, but you can switch between registered pets through the Inventory menu.
Pets can sustain injuries during combat encounters. An injured pet cannot run and will move slowly until healed. Use Healing Force Palm to restore your pet's health. You can also equip pet-specific armor to increase their defensive stats and reduce the chance of injury. Pet equipment can be purchased at shops in Pororin Forest Village and Demeniss.
Multiple pets can be registered at once, up to a maximum of 30. All registered companions are managed through the Inventory menu, where you can switch your active pet or review their equipment and status. Collecting all 30 unique pets is required for a Life Challenge and the Natural Collector trophy.
Craft Companionship enchants on Abyss gear to increase trust gain speed with pets. The Solidarity enchant increases trust gain with all NPCs and animals, making it useful beyond just pet taming.
Eggs are easy to purchase from most general goods shops across Pywel. Stock up before heading out to tame, since three Eggs per day will get you to 100 trust very quickly.
The Pointy-Eared Bulldog's nine variants all count as separate pets for the Natural Collector trophy. If you are working toward that achievement, make note of which variants you have already registered.
