Kuku Bismuth Spear

Cross-reference lootable Bismuth Spear at Well of Enlightenment

The Kuku Bismuth Spear is a reinforced two-handed weapon in Crimson Desert that applies bismuth buildup on every hit, slowing targets and increasing damage dealt to them. It is crafted at the Kilnden Workshop by reinforcing a Bismuth Spear with Kuku Iron Pot components. Like all Kuku weapons, it will never break once reinforced and supports further refinement.
The bismuth effect is widely considered the strongest of the three Kuku spear variants for boss encounters. The slow effect gives Kliff more breathing room to dodge and reposition, while the damage increase against slowed targets means each subsequent hit deals progressively more. Even without upgrades and at a lower level than the player's main weapon, the Kuku Bismuth Spear can out-damage fully enhanced alternatives against tough opponents.

Complete the required sanctum in the witch quest line. The Kuku Bismuth Spear blueprint becomes available at Grimnir's Kuku Shop after clearing the corresponding sanctum. Players who have completed all sanctums will have this blueprint unlocked automatically.
The base Bismuth Spear is found at the Well of Enlightenment, located slightly south of the Four Breakers Barons near the Crimson Desert region. Descend into the ruined building and collect the spear from inside. Watch out for nearby enemies; either defeat them first or wait for them to move away before picking it up.
Warning: Do not use the base Bismuth Spear before reinforcing it. Like all unreinforced Kuku base weapons, it will break after a few hits and be lost permanently.
The crafting cost for the Kuku Bismuth Spear is relatively low compared to the other variants. You need small batteries (from robotic enemies) and bismuth ore, which is abundant in the same area where the base spear is found. The region around the Well of Enlightenment has plenty of bismuth ore deposits.
Bring all materials to Grimnir at the Kilnden Workshop. Craft the Kuku Spear as an intermediate component, then combine everything to create the Kuku Bismuth Spear.
Material | Quantity | Source |
|---|---|---|
1 | Well of Enlightenment, south of Four Breakers Barons | |
1 | Crafted at Kilnden Workshop | |
Small Batteries | 2 | Robotic enemies in Delesyia |
2 | Mining deposits near the Well of Enlightenment and Crimson Desert region |
The bismuth buildup mechanic works in two stages. First, each hit applies a slow debuff that reduces the target's movement and attack speed. Second, once the bismuth status is fully applied, damage dealt to the slowed target is significantly increased. This double benefit makes the weapon devastating against bosses.
In testing, the Kuku Bismuth Spear at a lower level and with no upgrades dealt more damage per hit against a boss than a fully upgraded main weapon with five Abyss Gear effects. The slow effect also creates openings to dodge boss attacks that would otherwise be too fast to react to.
Surprisingly, the bismuth variant also outperforms the Kuku Lightning Spear against robotic enemies. The bismuth buildup deals enough bonus damage to compensate for the lack of a lightning weakness exploit, while also slowing the robots significantly.
The Rage Gaming / Hollow crafting guide describes the Kuku Bismuth Spear as the best of the Kuku spear variants for raw output and mobility. Each hit builds bismuth petrification on the target, capping at 10 stacks. The wearer spends stacks as attacks land, and naturally recovers one stack every 2 seconds so the effect can be reapplied without long downtime. Full petrification deals heavy physical damage over time and applies a strong slow, giving players crowd control on dangerous enemies.
In practice the spear rewards two playstyles. The first is the classic control loop: stack petrification, then swap to a preferred two-handed weapon or dagger to cash in the window while the target is locked down. The second is just to keep attacking with the spear, since the damage from petrification alone is often enough to finish off tough opponents without any weapon swaps.
The Kuku Bismuth Spear blueprint unlocks alongside the other Kuku spear variants once the player progresses the Kuku research and sanctum quest line. The base Kuku Spear recipe comes from the Sanctum of Absolution, and the bismuth variant becomes craftable at Grimnir's Kuku Shop once the relevant sanctum and research requirements are completed.
After the blueprint is unlocked, assemble the spear at the Kilnden Workshop using the materials below:
Material | Quantity | Source |
|---|---|---|
1 | Picked up at the Well of Enlightenment (see below). | |
10 | Dropped by Mani enemies patrolling southeastern Delesyia. | |
4 | Mined from nodes around the Well of Enlightenment or farmed from the Bismuth Stone Crab boss. |
The recipe is cheap compared to other Kuku variants, which makes the bismuth version an easy first pick once the sanctum unlocks are in place.
The base Bismuth Spear is located at the Well of Enlightenment, a liberation point west of Tash Kelp and just south of Forbearer's Barons in the Crimson Desert region. On the west side of the well, inside broken buildings, a flashing white dot appears on the mini-map to mark the spear. The weapon itself sits on a stand; walk up and interact to grab it.
Bismuth Ore nodes appear across the desert, and the guide calls out the western slope of the Scholar Stone Institute as an abundant farming spot. The single best source, however, is the Well of Enlightenment itself because its boss, the Bismuth Stone Crab, drops roughly 30 Bismuth Ore on defeat. That alone covers the Kuku Bismuth Spear recipe several times over.
The crab has three weak points on its back that stay hidden under armor plating. Attack the boss to stun it, then break each weak point cover during the stun window to expose the soft spot underneath. With a weak point exposed, press R2 to cling on and drive a dagger into it, then press R2 a second time to rip the dagger back out. Repeat the cling-and-pull sequence on all three weak points, then keep attacking the exposed spots to finish the kill.
Clearing the Bismuth Stone Crab also liberates the Well of Enlightenment and grants the full set of standard liberation rewards on top of the 30 Bismuth Ore, so a single trip gives you the base spear, a huge ore stockpile, and a freshly cleared outpost.
The best Kuku spear variant for boss fights due to the slow plus damage increase combo.
Even unupgraded, it can out-damage higher-level weapons on slowed targets.
Bismuth ore is plentiful near the Well of Enlightenment, making the crafting cost minimal.
Pair with aggressive playstyles; the slow effect gives extra dodge windows against fast bosses.
Consider refining this weapon to maximum level to further amplify its already strong damage output.

A player-usable Bismuth Spear is hidden inside the Well of Enlightenment in Palune. It shares the same bismuth-on-hit effect as the Kuku variant but suffers from a fixed durability of 50/50 and no repair path. The spear rounds out the Palune elemental trio along with the Flame Spear at Ash Claw Keep and the Lightning Spear at a bandit camp north of Hernand.
