The Hyena Helm is a piece of Headgear in Crimson Desert. At 4 Defense with Poison Immunity, it is one of the stronger headgear options in the game. The helm is obtained by defeating Skevald the Carrion King, a legendary hyena boss found through the Lords of Unclaimed Lands faction quest line. You do not need to formally accept the quest before fighting Skevald; killing the boss on its own is enough to receive the helm as a drop.
Poison Immunity makes the Hyena Helm particularly valuable in areas where poisonous enemies are common. Poison is one of the more dangerous status effects in Crimson Desert because it drains health over time, and without immunity, players must rely on recovery items to counteract the damage. With the Hyena Helm equipped, poison attacks have no effect on Kliff, freeing up inventory space and removing the need to constantly monitor poison timers.

With 4 Defense, the Hyena Helm sits in the upper tier of headgear alongside the Bolton Plate Helm and the Blackwing Mask. Combined with Poison Immunity, this makes the Hyena Helm one of the best defensive headgear choices in the game.
The Hyena Helm drops as a reward for defeating Skevald the Carrion King, a legendary hyena boss. Here is how to find and fight Skevald:
Travel to Tommaso and locate the bounty notice board. Find and examine the bounty notice for Skevald the Carrion King.
The bounty notice will mark Skevald's tracking location on your map. Follow the trail to find the boss arena.
Prepare for the fight by stocking up on recovery items. Skevald has attacks that shroud the arena in red gas, which drains health over time.
Defeat Skevald. The fight has two phases, and Skevald is protected by a pack of smaller hyenas that will attack alongside the boss.
After Skevald falls, the Hyena Helm drops as a reward. Pick it up from the loot.
You can fight Skevald without formally starting the Lords of Unclaimed Lands quest. Simply locating and killing the boss is sufficient to receive the Hyena Helm. However, completing the associated faction quest may grant additional rewards and reputation.
Skevald the Carrion King is a two-phase boss fight. In the first phase, Skevald attacks alongside a pack of hyenas. Focus on thinning out the smaller hyenas first to reduce incoming damage, then turn your attention to the boss.
In the second phase, Skevald becomes more aggressive and uses a red gas attack that fills the arena. This gas slowly drains your health while you remain inside it. Keep moving to find pockets of cleaner air, and use recovery items between attack windows. Ranged attacks and skills that let you deal damage from a distance are helpful during the gas phase.
Bring plenty of healing items. The red gas deals constant tick damage that adds up quickly.
Clear the smaller hyenas in phase one before focusing on Skevald. They can stagger you and interrupt attacks.
Watch for Skevald's lunge attacks. They are telegraphed by a brief crouch before the charge.
Use dodge rolls to escape the densest patches of red gas during the second phase.
The Hyena Helm supports up to 10 refinement levels at the blacksmith in Hernand. Each refinement level increases the base Defense stat beyond the initial 4. Since the Hyena Helm starts with above-average defense, investing in refinement pushes it even further ahead of competing headgear options.
Gather Refinement and Upgrade Materials through exploration, mining, and hunting. The material requirements increase at higher refinement levels, so stockpile resources before pushing past Level 5.
Equip the Hyena Helm before entering areas with poison-based enemies, swamps, or toxic caves. The immunity effect makes these zones much safer.
At 4 DEF, the Hyena Helm competes directly with the Bolton Plate Helm. Choose the Hyena Helm when you expect poison threats, and switch to the Bolton when you need its specific bonuses.
The Hyena Helm's sell price of 15.50 Silver Coins makes it one of the most valuable headgear pieces in the game. Do not sell it by accident.
Since the helm has no Abyss Core slots, build your Abyss loadout around your chest armor, gloves, and weapon instead.
Poison Immunity pairs well with aggressive playstyles. Without needing to retreat and heal from poison, you can stay in close range and keep attacking.
