Expanded with liberation quest details, Bleed Bandits occupation, Warspike Commander boss, sub-area descriptions, Everfrost access, Shadow Armor, and Warspike Spear
Fort Warspike is one of the key fortifications in western Hernand. Built with the frozen mountain range of Everfrost at its back, the fort was constructed to secure the western border and prevent bandits from descending the mountain passes into the lowlands. The fortress has undergone numerous repairs over the years, though its strategic position remains unchanged.
Fort Warspike sits in the western reaches of the Hernand region, backed by the Everfrost mountain range. Several sub-areas surround the fort, including the Warspike East Gate, Warspike North Gate, Warspike South Gate, and the Warspike Spearmaker workshop. A path leads up the mountain behind the fort into the Everfrost region.
Sealed Abyss Artifact : At the end of the short road leading up the cliffs from Fort Warspike, players can find a Sealed Abyss Artifact. The associated challenge is "Training 4: Rainbow Across the Sky."
Warspike Spearmaker : A workshop near the fort where spears and polearms are crafted. This serves as a point of interest for players seeking ranged melee weapons.
Gate Sub-Areas : The East, North, and South Gates define the fort's defensive perimeter and serve as approach routes from different directions.
Fort Warspike's position at the base of Everfrost makes it the first line of defense against threats coming from the frozen western mountains. The fort monitors the mountain passes and prevents bandits and other hostile forces from moving freely between the highlands and the settled areas of Hernand.
Fort Warspike is the central location for the On the Speartip Once Again faction quest, part of the House Alfonso questline. The fort and its surrounding strongholds have been occupied by the Bleed Bandits, and Kliff must clear them out to liberate the area. The quest consists of two main phases:
Phase | Objective | Details |
|---|---|---|
Piercing Spear | Clear all five surrounding strongholds | Defeat enemies at Warspike Spearmaker, Phoniel Ranch, Warspike East Gate, Warspike South Gate, and Warspike North Gate until each area's enemy meter reaches zero. |
The Crimson-Stained Speartip | Defeat the Bleed Warspike Commander | Storm Fort Warspike itself and defeat the boss, who uses a multi-shot, long-range weapon. |
Completing On the Speartip Once Again grants:
Iron Ore x5
Copper Ore x3
During the Bleed Warspike Commander boss fight, players may also acquire one of two skills: Multi-Shot or Explosive Evasive Shot. Which skill becomes available depends on player actions during the encounter.
The Bleed Warspike Commander is the boss of the liberation quest. This enemy wields a multi-shot ranged weapon and attacks from a distance, making the fight different from typical melee encounters. The Commander fires rapid bursts of projectiles that cover a wide area. Close the distance quickly using dodge rolls and stay in the Commander's face to limit the effectiveness of the ranged attacks. Watch for the wind-up animation before each burst and dodge laterally to avoid the spread pattern.
Sub-Area | Description |
|---|---|
Warspike Spearmaker | A workshop built under the supervision of House Alfonso to supply the Hernandian Guard with high-quality polearms. The Warspike Spear, a mass-produced military weapon, is crafted here. |
Warspike East Gate | Eastern entrance to the fort's defensive perimeter. This gate faces the Hernand lowlands. |
Warspike North Gate | Northern gate that opens toward the mountain pass leading into Everfrost. |
Warspike South Gate | Southern approach to the fort, connecting to the Hernand countryside. |
A nearby farm on the Alfonso Estate. Part of the liberation quest's area of operations. |
The Warspike Spear is a two-handed weapon associated with Fort Warspike and House Alfonso's military traditions. It has an Attack Power of 13, an Attack Speed of Lv 1, and 5 Abyss Gear Slots. The spear can be crafted at any blacksmith using 7 Iron Ore and 3 Copper Ore after reading the crafting manual Two Handed Weapons of the World Vol. 1. It can also appear as randomized loot throughout Pywel.
The mountain path behind Fort Warspike leads directly into the Everfrost region, a frozen area with extreme cold. Adventurers heading into Everfrost should prepare thoroughly before crossing the threshold:
Equip a Cloak with cold resistance to reduce stamina drain from freezing temperatures.
Bring Ice Resistance food such as soups or stews that use Water as an ingredient.
Stock up on healing items, as Everfrost contains powerful enemies including encounters tied to the Shadow Armor set.
The Everfrost region accessible from Fort Warspike contains several pieces of the Shadow Armor set, one of the strongest armor collections in the game:
Shadow Gloves: Found in Everfrost Cave, west of Fort Warspike along the river.
Shadow Boots: Located in Frostclaw Cave, northeast of Everfrost Cave, behind a waterfall. Use the Stab skill to pass through the waterfall.
Shadow Armor (Plate): At the Everfrost Watchtower, north of the Hoenmark Ruins. Light a lamp near the metal gate to access the chest.
Shadow Cloak: Hidden inside a building in the Hoenmark Ruins, near the Beloth boss encounter.
Check the cliffside road leading up from the fort to find the Sealed Abyss Artifact and unlock the Training 4 challenge.
The path behind the fort leads into the Everfrost area, which has extreme cold. Equip a cloak and bring cold-resistance food before venturing up.
