1 revisionsThe Badger is a small, sturdy animal with a low-slung body, short legs, and distinctive black-and-white striped face. It can be registered as one of your Pets, joining the roster of small animals you can tame in the wild and carry with you. Once adopted, the badger behaves like any other companion and can loot nearby items during combat.
Badgers favour meat, which makes them quick to win over for players who keep cuts of Meat on hand while exploring. Any kind of meat will do, so there is no need to chase a single rare ingredient.
Taming a badger follows the same loop as the other small animals. Approach the creature in the wild, close the distance, and grab it, then feed it until its Trust reaches 100. When the meter is full, choose Take In to register it as a pet. Holding the right food in your inventory before you start keeps the process short, since each feeding raises Trust by a set amount.
A reliable spot to gather small animals is the farm field with three flax patches, identifiable by the leaning, crooked water tower that overlooks it. Animals here run in a single direction as you walk through, then circle back and respawn, so you can keep grabbing one after another. The same field is popular for collecting other tameable critters, which makes it an efficient place to build up a stable of pets in one trip.
The badger is a meat eater. Any cut of meat raises its Trust, and it accepts a wide range of options rather than a single favourite.
