Aeserion, the Great Serpent

Aeserion the Great Serpent is a colossal serpent god trapped at the Serpent Shrine in Delesyia. Aeserion is central to the Shackled God faction quest line, which tasks Kliff with freeing the serpent from the corruption imposed upon it by three rogue Ancients. The quest line is among the most challenging endgame content in Crimson Desert and rewards the player with the Aeserion Sword upon completion.

Aeserion is not a traditional boss fight in the usual sense. Instead of a health bar you need to deplete through direct damage, the encounter involves destroying Bismuth Emitters on the serpent's back and then cleansing the exposed corruption using an upgraded Force Palm ability.

Aeserion is classified as a World Boss creature in Crimson Desert. Its core stats are listed below.
Stat | Value |
|---|---|
2,000 | |
Attack | 182 |
100 | |
100 | |
Knockout | 750 |
Aeserion possesses two passive immunities that shape how the encounter plays out:
Immune Bismuth (passive): Aeserion cannot be damaged or affected through conventional means while its Bismuth Emitters are intact. Standard attacks deal no meaningful damage to the serpent directly. The only way to progress is to destroy each Bismuth Emitter and then cleanse the exposed corruption using Force Palm (Force Bomb).
Immune Elemental Action Restriction (passive): Aeserion is fully immune to elemental status effects that would normally restrict movement or actions, such as freeze, stun, paralysis, or any elemental debuff that limits combat actions. Abilities or Abyss Gear that rely on applying these status effects will have no impact during this encounter.
The Shackled God quest is a Delesyia faction quest that becomes available once you reach the Serpent Shrine. Speaking with Aeserion initiates the quest chain. The serpent god explains that three of its former guardians, the Ancients, have been corrupted and turned hostile. Aeserion asks Kliff to hunt them down and destroy them.
Speak with Aeserion at the Serpent Shrine
Defeat Priscus the Ancient at the Spire of Ringing Truth (Pailune)
Defeat Praevus the Ancient at the Abyss Debris (west of Tommaso)
Defeat Primus the Ancient at Arrowhead Rock (north of Serpent Shrine)
Return to the Serpent Shrine and cleanse Aeserion's corruption
The three Ancient bosses can be tracked through the quest journal. Open your journal, navigate to Faction Quests, and select the Delesyia faction. The quest titled "Aeserion the Great Serpent" will list all three targets. Each boss can be marked on the map individually for easy navigation.

Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
Story Progress | Reach Delesyia and access the Serpent Shrine |
Three Ancient Bosses | All three must be defeated before the final encounter |
Chapter 9 Progression | Must reach Chapter 9 to obtain the upgraded Force Palm (Force Bomb) |
Force Palm Upgrade | Required to cleanse Bismuth Emitter corruption on Aeserion's back |
After defeating all three Ancients, return to the Serpent Shrine to begin the final phase of the quest. This is not a conventional boss fight. Instead, you climb onto Aeserion's massive back and navigate its body.
There are three Bismuth Emitters embedded along Aeserion's back. These are large structures protruding from poles that are visible as red markers. To progress, you must:
Approach a Bismuth Emitter and attack it using Turning Slash to break it.
Once the emitter is destroyed, use your upgraded Force Palm (Force Bomb) to cleanse the exposed corruption core.
Repeat for all three emitters.
The encounter on Aeserion's back is not straightforward. Several hazards make it dangerous:
Passive Corruption Damage: The corruption on Aeserion's body deals constant passive damage to Kliff. You will need to use healing items regularly throughout the encounter.
Lightning: The area is perpetually engulfed in a rainstorm. The rain reduces your lightning resistance, making any lightning-based hazards significantly more dangerous.
Limited Healing: Because the corruption deals steady damage and the fight requires completing three separate objectives, healing item management is critical. Bring a full stock of recovery items before starting the encounter.

Completing the Shackled God quest line provides the following rewards:
Reward | Details |
|---|---|
One-handed sword, +22 Attack, level 5 base refinement, 3 Abyss Gear sockets | |
Serpent Shrine Cleared | The shrine becomes safe for return visits and scale collection |
Serpent Shrine Exploration | Repeatable activity unlocked for earning additional Aeserion's Scales |
The Aeserion Sword has a distinctive golden appearance by default. It can be customized with the dye system. This is the only Aeserion weapon that is given as a quest reward rather than requiring crafting with platinum and other rare materials.
In addition to the quest reward sword, players can find the Aeserion's Gear Blueprint hidden at the Serpent Shrine. This blueprint contains recipes for 10 different Aeserion weapons, each requiring platinum and rare crafting materials. See the Serpent Shrine article for the full weapon list and blueprint location.
You do not need to complete this quest to collect Aeserion's Scales. Scales are available at the shrine before, during, and after the quest.
Make sure you have progressed to Chapter 9 and obtained the Force Palm upgrade before attempting the final encounter. Without it, you cannot cleanse the Bismuth Emitters.
Bring a full stock of healing items. The passive corruption damage and lightning hazards drain your health steadily throughout the encounter.
The three Ancient bosses can be fought in any order. Consider starting with Priscus (easiest) and finishing with Praevus (hardest) to build experience with the encounter mechanics.
After completing the quest, the Serpent Shrine is cleared and becomes a safe location for farming additional scales.
