Vindictus: Defying Fate does not have an official release date as of early 2026. The game is confirmed for PC via Steam. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are confirmed to be in development. No platform-specific release dates have been shared by Nexon or CAG Studio.
The game's public development timeline includes the following milestones:
February 28, 2024: Nexon officially announced Vindictus: Defying Fate with a cinematic trailer, revealing it as a single-player reimagining of the original Vindictus.
March 13-18, 2024: A pre-alpha test ran with limited content, allowing players to choose between Fiona and Lann through a short segment recreating elements of the opening chapter. This was the first public hands-on opportunity.
June 8-16, 2025: The public alpha test launched during Steam Next Fest. It included four playable characters (Lann, Fiona, Karok, Delia), the Northern Ruins and Frozen Valley regions, boss fights including the White Tyrant and Blood Lord, multiplayer Special Missions, and the character customization system. Over 400,000 players participated.
October 2025: Arisha was confirmed as the fifth playable character in development.
Vindictus: Defying Fate has a Steam store page and ran its alpha test exclusively through Steam. PC is the only confirmed platform. The game's system requirements have not been finalized, as optimization is ongoing. The alpha test ran on Unreal Engine 5 and required a relatively modern GPU for smooth performance at high settings.

The gap between pre-alpha (March 2024) and public alpha (June 2025) was about 15 months. A similar or longer gap before the next major milestone would not be unusual for a UE5 action RPG.
The addition of new characters (Arisha confirmed, Evie expected) and regions (Ainle) suggests the game still has meaningful content in development.
